8 AM

Run 43:47 [3] 6.0 km (7:18 / km)

Jog around Blackburn in the wind. I struggled again as my back was quite sore and l needed to stop midway for a stretch, which helped. My back has not appreciated the 12 hour days l've worked this week, writing the submission. It is now finished - 100 pages and a big effort. Now to retire(again).

Orienteering 51:50 [3] 5.29 km (9:48 / km)

MelBushO atTikalara Park, a place l haven't been before aside from jogging the Mullum Creek trail. It was quite interesting although muddy and boggy. Despite several warnings prior to start, l wore new shoes and they proved quite successful in these conditions. I made a couple of silly mistakes, including missing a control and having to backtrack. I seem to be making a habit of this lately. On the positive side, my back felt much better today, helped by lots of stretching last night.

Saturday Jun 25, 2016 #

Walk/jog 58:00 [3] 6.7 km (8:39 / km)

Street O at Hays Paddock. Back was very sore, along with sore glutes and hammies, so walked most of it. This was probably due to the 12 hours of sitting l did yesterday, writing a last minute WOVG submission to a parliamentary inquiry. Went to the Bayside AGM afterwards

Walk/jog 30:00 [3] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)

Putting out controls and collecting controls afterwards.

Run 40:30 [3] 5.5 km (7:22 / km)

Run around Blackburn. It was pretty windy but at least the sun was out. I struggled again and, although my back feels a little better, it was still tight. Stretching seems to help.
I have a couple of full days and a couple of half days work this week. The half days are good because l can run in the mornings.

Run 41:06 [3] 5.6 km (7:20 / km)

Run around Blackburn. I struggled a bit with aches all over, but am still subscribing to the theory that something is better than nothing. The upside to not working full time is that you have more time to shop. I got my shoes for the WRC yesterday - Columbia trail running boots. Hopefully OK. I don't want to wear ankle braces. The downside is less money.

Orienteering 1:39:00 [3] 7.39 km (13:24 / km)

MelBushO at Plenty Gorge. I was fine for the first half and then my back and knee started to get really sore and l couldn't really lift my left leg - l think l need a trip to one of Bendigo's chiropractors. I then walked back. I didn't really enjoy it as the grass was wet and slippery, it was steep and muddy, and there were no tracks marked, which l didn't realise until l went cross country through the wet and prickly green, only to find everyone else was jogging along the tracks

Orienteering 1:15:47 [3] 6.55 km (11:34 / km)

Drove up to Bendigo with Dave Knight for orienteering at Mandurang. Course 2. The best route really involved a lot of track running, but l wanted practice in the bush so went mainly cross country. Made a terrible error at the end when I went 7 - 3, rather than 7 - 8. Never mind, l enjoyed being in the bush.

Monday Jun 13, 2016 #

Run 45:00 [3] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)

Run around Wangaratta. Not very enthusiastic today.

Sunday Jun 12, 2016 #

Orienteering 2:21:00 [3] 8.16 km (17:17 / km)

Long distance race at Kooyoora. It was a tough one. I messed up 3 and had to relocate from the road. I also messed up 7, having to relocate from the creek, which l should have followed in the first place. It was entertaining climbing through the scrub, to say the least. I camped on the top of My Kooyoora and although it was chilly, it was a nice experience, apart from the noisy neighbours. Great weekend and wish l could have stayed for a bit more training.

Saturday Jun 11, 2016 #

Orienteering 1:41:00 [3] 5.53 km (18:16 / km)

Mt Kooyoora. I finished! 2nd or last! Only two women finished course 4, so l was pretty pleased. My navigation was terrible though and my back very sore. Nice challenge.

Friday Jun 10, 2016 #

Swim 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)

Swim in the new and most wonderful Aquanation pool at Ringwood. It was quite gorgeous - and would need to be as it cost $7.80 to get in!

Thursday Jun 9, 2016 #

Walk 35:00 [3] 3.5 km (10:00 / km)

Bleak day and l was a bit tired. Could only manage a short walk in the evening. I am now working on a new project. Who would have thought that the language around levee management could be so confusing - almost as bad as emergency management.

Wednesday Jun 8, 2016 #

9 AM

Run 35:55 [3] 5.0 km (7:11 / km)

Run around the streets of Blackburn. Not feeling very enthusiastic and walked up one hill. Left leg was feeling a bit weak.

Monday Jun 6, 2016 #

9 AM

Run 37:01 [3] 5.0 km (7:24 / km)

Run around Blackburn creeklands. The media last night reported a man hanging around Laburnum PS and the creeklands, which has made me be slightly more aware when l am running in the bushy sections.
Coincidentally, l received a letter from the police in Benalla over the weekend that they 'were investigating a suspicious male loitering in the vicinity of your residence during the evening hours'. More concerning was that my neighbours didn't receive a similar letter. So what is going on? I used to feel safe.

Sunday Jun 5, 2016 #

Run 44:33 [3] 6.0 km (7:26 / km)

Hill run in Reef Hills without glasses as it was raining lightly and they got wet. It was actually OK and l might try the one contact lens business - one lens for distance

Friday Jun 3, 2016 #

9 AM

Run 35:54 [3] 5.0 km (7:11 / km)

Run around Benalla lake. I'm loving this not-working-fulltime business, although l have taken on one job so far, but that can be done from anywhere.

Thursday Jun 2, 2016 #

Swim 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)

Swim in the Benalla pool. Another glorious sunny day in the NE. How much better my back feels already for not sitting in a seat all day.

Wednesday Jun 1, 2016 #

Run 34:30 [3] 5.0 km (6:54 / km)

Run around Benalla lake in the sun. Lovely.
