Run (or maybe orienteering) 43:43 [3] 5.81 km (7:31 / km)

Street O at Mont Albert. A nice area with houses to aspire to. I struggled a bit and jarred my knee jumping over a small wall. Now off to the BBQ to celebrate Suzanne's birthday.

Tuesday Nov 29, 2016 #

8 AM

Run 42:19 [3] 6.0 km (7:03 / km)

Run around Blackburn lake and creeklands. Funny - my LSD pace is about the same as my sprint pace!

Orienteering 19:43 [3] 2.77 km (7:07 / km)

Victorian sprint championships at Camp Hill. Great area and an enjoyable course. I messed up a few controls just a little, which accounted for around a minute and several places higher. This included faltering at the start triangle, with an audience of my competitors, who were then all certain which way to go, missing number 9 and having to go back and heading the wrong way to 10. Debbie Dodd came 2nd to Jenny Bourne in my category, which pleased me as she was the series organiser and rarely achieves a podium finish.
Overall, it was a most enjoyable weekend and all went off well, although l know there were a number of ducks paddling furiously underwater to keep things going. Thanks to all.

11 AM

Orienteering 20:00 [3] 2.6 km (7:42 / km)

Sprint into Spring race 6. No mistakes.
1 PM

Orienteering 27:00 [3] 2.83 km (9:32 / km)

Sprint into Spring race 7 at Bendigo. Overshot 2 before getting used to the map. Then all clear.

Run 46:15 [3] 5.79 km (7:59 / km)

Street O at Gardiners Bend, a map where it's always tricky to choose the shortest C course. My groin muscle tugged a bit going up the hill so l took it pretty easy.

Run 39:38 [3] 5.5 km (7:12 / km)

Pretty warm here in the NE, but l went for another run around the Benalla lake and gardens this morning. Knee a little better after a significant 'clunk' while stretching yesterday. The run was interrupted by a lady yelling at me from the oval as l went past 'we visited your house yesterday and have photos of the garden'. So l stopped and looked. It was my former house at Lima where l planted a 2 acre garden and thousands of trees over a 10 year period. But l couldn't manage a garden that size and do orienteering etc on the weekends as well. So I sold it 10 years ago - fortunately to some gardeners. Since then it has grown to maturity and is looking absolutely gorgeous, especially after the wet spring and with the flowers out.
It has been a Lima sort of weekend. I went to the Swanpool Cinema last night to watch some Swedish films. They were great, but were only watched by 10 patrons.

Run 38:51 [3] 5.5 km (7:04 / km)

Run around Benalla lake and gardens. It is going to be a warm day and it was even quite warm at 08:00. Knee is a little tender but OK. I might need to do some strength work.

Thursday Nov 17, 2016 #

9 AM

Run 29:05 [3] 4.1 km (7:06 / km)

For some inexplicable reason, l couldn't run a step last night and knee was painful, but it felt reasonably OK this morning and l could. Same shoes. Possibly something to do with being tired. I kept it short just in case. Beautiful day and peak hour around the creek.

Wednesday Nov 16, 2016 #

Walk 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)
(injured)

Street O at Wattle Park. I started running but my knee was really sore so l walked. A bit disappointing, as fitness wise l was going fairly well

Monday Nov 14, 2016 #

Run 32:38 [3] 4.2 km (7:46 / km)

Street O in Glen lris on a cold windy night . My knee is still a bit tender from falling on it at the AWOC champs over a week ago so l just opted for D course.

Sunday Nov 13, 2016 #

Run 36:35 [3] 5.0 km (7:19 / km)

Run around the Gardiner's Creek tracks near Deakin Uni in the rain. This was the location of yesterday's sprint that l was unable to attend. I was 'persuaded' to attend my old school's old colleagian annual lunch instead, as a friend was guest speaker. It turned out to be a nice function after all, with fabulous food. Speaking of food, since recommencing work l have been eating a lot lately (l think l eat when l'm anxious) and l really felt heavy on the run today.

Friday Nov 11, 2016 #

Run 37:00 [3] 5.3 km (6:59 / km)

Run around Blackburn lake and creeklands, on a slightly different route to normal as l didn't want to run across the road in front of lots of little children and the lollipop lady. Knee was a bit tender but felt better if l strode out - so this had the benefit of a faster pace than normal. Fastest pace - 5.30 min/km - YAY.
NB. I am only running to avoid working :)

Thursday Nov 10, 2016 #

Walk 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)

Walk around BB. Glad to have the house back to myself again and a separation between work and home.

Wednesday Nov 9, 2016 #

Run 45:09 [3] 6.1 km (7:24 / km)

Street O at Ringwood Wilds, an area l know well as it was close to my first ever house from the days when l ran a lot. My knee was a bit tweaky still from the weekend's event but l got around OK.
I've started working again, on a job with an ex chief fire officer and the former manager of a large timber mill. An unusual combination and l have a bit of an idea who they think is going to do all the work. They have been staying at my house this week..

Sunday Nov 6, 2016 #

Orienteering 1:48:35 [3] 6.83 km (15:54 / km)

AWOC club championships at Barambogie South. The course was physically hard due to the waterlogged ground (the lower areas resembled a continuous swamp), long grass and hidden fallen timber and holes. I was a bit off in a couple of controls and struggled physically. Also the controls were often difficult to get to physically and some were quite well hidden. But it was a nice event regardless.

Saturday Nov 5, 2016 #

Run 35:16 [3] 5.0 km (7:03 / km)

Run around Benalla lake, prior to a nice breakfast in town with Ian and Linda, who stayed the night. It was pretty cold and windy and l wore long sleeves. The cooler weather has meant that the Benalla roses, which are normally in full bloom in this weekend in time for the Benalla festival, are only partially out.

Note
(rest day)

Drove to Bairnsdale yesterday for work today and then home to Benalla today via Omeo and Mt Hotham. It was a long way, but the scenery on the southern side of the mountains was absolutely gorgeous and not cooked to a cinder like the north side. The AWOC club championships are on Sunday at the Barrambogies and l didn't want to miss it.

Wednesday Nov 2, 2016 #

Run 44:30 [3] 5.69 km (7:49 / km)

Street O at Forest Chase. I am back in the land of the living, picked a good route and plodded consistently, so was happy. I bought my $60 Wed series season ticket with my winnings from yesterday - I took my first ever TAB bet and picked the winner, Almandin! I might have to take up betting as my new career!

Tuesday Nov 1, 2016 #

Run 35:54 [3] 5.0 km (7:11 / km)

I have cautiously taken myself off the sick list - that really was quite a prolonged bout of something!
Today l ran around the Benalla lake again, with my km rate the same as yesterday, even though l tried to beat it. There were a lot of walkers, mostly visitors l would say, judging from the lack of greetings. Some of the grass alongside the track up my end of the lake was over my head, which is saying something.
