Run around Blackburn streets and lake, with a few hills. Knee a bit tender for the first half.

Run around Benalla lake and gardens. It was a bit of a struggle and probably not a good look.
In contrast, l have the lovely Lanita staying this week while she studies at Dookie. What a pleasure it has been!

Spring Gully State Series course 4. I had a pretty smooth run. Very cold day. Came over from Benalla with Ross, who did well and enjoyed course 3.

Yay. Life has returned. Ran Blackburn lake and creeklands at the distance and pace l was at before going to NZ. Happy about this.

Note

No exercise today. Went to the christening of lan's niece and nephew at Rheola. Felt bad about not being 2km up the road at Mt Kooyoora for cactus poisoning, but enjoyed munching on the very impressive CWA afternoon tea spread instead.

Street O at Lillydale Lake. I opted for the hilly end and jogged most ( but not all) of the hills. Heading this way meant l didn't have time for some high pointers on the flat land at the other end. Felt good running today - for the first time in some months. Glorious day!

Tried to get going but am feeling flat. This was all l could manage. DNF. Went home to finish my prescribed burning report. Yay!

Orienteering 25:00 [3] 2.57 km (9:44 / km)

Sprint event at Charles Sturt University. Had a bit of difficulty reading the map, with fogged up glasses, and was really slow. Overall l enjoyed the carnival but have lost a lot of fitness since going to N Z.

Orienteering 1:28:00 [3] 6.32 km (13:55 / km)

Australian 3 Days at Burngoogee. I was a late starter. I didn't do anything drastic this time. I was just slow (despite feeling reasonably well for the first time in a while), took slow route choices and stuffed around in the control circles. At least l finished today.
Now to be the messenger bearing bad news to the OA meeting. Hopefully its not a case of 'off with her head'. On a serious note, l will interested to observe the voting model - 'winners and losers' or consensus.

Orienteering 1:06:00 [3] 5.11 km (12:55 / km)

Day 1 of Australian 3Days at Connorton. I started well and then got confused between 7 and 8, thinking l needed to follow a spur, rather than a gully. This was embarrassing as l had already run through this gully This took me into some steep stuff and, by the time l relocated, l had tired a little. I then mispunched 12. The 1 on 81 looked at bit like a 7. I then wondered why the next control was not where it should be. Ah, well. Nice area but not my day. MP.
It was definitely not my day. A group of us planned to dine in a local pub. We waited ages for our dinner (we were starving) and then noticed they were packing up.! They had forgotten our orders! So they unpacked and cooked our dinners AND gave (most of) our money back. Neil didn't do so well. His dinner looked like a half serve of lettuce leaves.

Street O at Greythorn. It was a pretty hilly course and l picked a silly low scoring route. But at least it was peaceful. I just walked as l am still low in energy. The houses in this area are amazing, with many of the new houses looking like town halls.

Orienteering 1:35:00 [3] 5.2 km (18:16 / km)

State Series at Deadman's Flat, one of my favourite areas. I was first starter at 09:15 and it was still -1 degree. The rocks were a bit slippery and icy. I got most controls without too much trouble, except for #91, which l approached from the fence, trying to use the vegetation boundaries as a guide, which was a mistake, given the map was mapped in 2006 (l think) and the area of runnable forest was impenetrable. I walked most of the course, as a trip in the rocks would have been disastrous for my already grazed knee for next weekend. I then helped in the start. The day ended up gloriously warm and it looked like no-one was going home. I thought we were going to have to get the vacuum cleaner out!

Street O at Briar Hill, a hilly area at St Helena. I walked up a lot of the hills. I didn't think l had run here before but Russell, the organiser, greeted me with the announcement that it was in this place in 1986 that he met me!!! Of course l can't remember that far back.
