Run 36:20 [3] 4.7 km (7:44 / km)

Benalla lake. Pretty warm. Couldn't breathe properly and this was as fast as l could go.

Saturday Nov 28, 2020 #

Run 34:00 [3] 4.5 km (7:33 / km)

Jog on a hot and humid morning around Benalla lake. Everything was back to normal - very busy Saturday market (l walked through that bit), fisherpersons, kayaks, walkers, dogs, bikes etc. Went to a karaoke Xmas party last night. No masks or social distancing here.

Wednesday Nov 25, 2020 #

Walk 43:00 [3] 4.0 km (10:45 / km)

Street O at Mullum Mullum. 32 degrees, back hurt, knee hurt and phone and keys (plus various body parts) flopped around, so just walked. Not very successful. . Gotta find a better way of carrying my phone (or maybe MaprunG).

Tuesday Nov 24, 2020 #

Run 22:00 [3] 3.0 km (7:20 / km)

Jog around Blackburn.

Saturday Nov 21, 2020 #

Run 34:00 [3] 4.3 km (7:54 / km)

Plog around Blackburn, including some hills, followed by a stretch on the swings. Left it a bit late and it was quite warm - and this was my maximum speed and distance.
I am spending a couple of days doing 6 month's worth of gardening - and the place is looking much better now.

Run 30:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)

Jog around the streets and creeklands of Blackburn. Felt quite good, but that was probably the Nurofen working. Had an Xray yesterday to see what is wrong with my back.

Thursday Nov 19, 2020 #

Run 31:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:45 / km)

Jog around Blackburn. Hips and back very seized up and l could only manage 4k. Slowest l have ever been. On a positive, l love my new Arcteryx shoes, which l got half price (just call me Imelda). And at least we Victorians are allowed out.

Walk 1:40:00 [3] 8.2 km (12:12 / km)

Lovely walk along the beach, clifftops and foreshore of Mornington.

Stretching/exercises 15:00 [3]

Lovely stretch session in the heated pool. Some improvement.

Monday Nov 16, 2020 #

Stretching/exercises 45:00 [3]

Stretched my back in my sister's heated pool at Mornington and it felt much better. Lovely to be down by the beach again.

Sunday Nov 15, 2020 #

Walk 1:10:00 [3] 6.65 km (10:32 / km)

Back on the Nurofen and tried running but it wasnt going to work - think l'll stick to walking and bike riding for a while. Walk around Blackburn again today. The lake playground and picnic area were full as a goog, but the outer tracks empty, possibly with thanks to the person who put up 'Warning - snakes have been seen here' signs everywhere. It wasnt me.

Saturday Nov 14, 2020 #

Walk 55:00 [3] 5.0 km (11:00 / km)

Back bung.

Friday Nov 13, 2020 #

Walk/jog 35:00 [3] 4.0 km (8:45 / km)

Tried to run but sciatica too bad. However, it was lovely to reconnect with the sights, sound and scent of the Blackburn bushland (which is quite distinctive and inspired artists from the Heidelberg School, such as Frederick McCubbin).

Thursday Nov 12, 2020 #

Walk 40:00 [3] 3.5 km (11:26 / km)

Walk around Blackburn, including trying to stretch my back in the playgrounds - for some peculiar reason my sciatica has swapped sides.
Its a bit of a shock being back in Melbourne after so long. The house is perfect inside, but a terrible mess outside, and l have a lot of gardening to do.

Tuesday Nov 10, 2020 #

Run 36:00 [3] 4.7 km (7:40 / km)

Jog around Benalla lake before the day heats up. Went without pain killers and seemed OK - trying to wean myself off them before l become addicted. Lots of friendly walkers out and l received a few encouraging greetings.

Saturday Nov 7, 2020 #

Walk 4:25:00 [3] 21.5 km (12:20 / km)

Day 4 and final day of Julie and Prue's Excellent Adventure circumnavigating Bendigo. We started at Ironstone Hill, walked through the streets of Epsom, stopped for a coffee and then wandered on tracks through the Wellsford Forest. It was flat and quite lovely. We finished on the O'Keefe rail trail and then on the bike track through Wildflower Drive. Overall, it was a great 4 days, and l was lucky to have Julie as a guide. We walked around 80 kms in total.

Wednesday Nov 4, 2020 #

Run 34:00 [3] 4.5 km (7:33 / km)

Nurofen enhanced jog around Benalla lake on a very humid morning.

Orienteering 2:10:00 [3] 5.85 km (22:13 / km)

Peter insisted we returned to the Barambogies in order to 'conquer the mountain'. Fueled by Nurofen, we walked course 3 from Sunday and, to our surprise THE CONTROLS WERE STILL THERE. We bumped into the course setter Peter Mousley about 2/3 of the way collecting the last few, so stopped for a chat. I found # 6 this time - l was way too high - a common problem l have because my sore knee subconsciously tries to avoid going downhill unless absolutely necessary. Saw two really big goannas.

Monday Nov 2, 2020 #

Walk 50:00 [3] 4.7 km (10:38 / km)

Walk around Benalla lake. It was very warm and there were several people distance swimming and children jumping in - so it must be warm. People were also fishing and having picnics. We are expecting a tsunami of people after bext weekend. Took some Nurofen this morning and back is a little better.

Orienteering 1:25:00 [3] 4.2 km (20:14 / km)

AWOC championshop at Barambogies. Course 3. Tough rocky terrain, knee high grass and lots of fallen timber. I couldnt find #6, although l must have been close, and called it a day, walking back slowly. In part this was due to back/knee pain, which l had at the start and by now had become unbearable. Need to get that looked at. Dont think l'll be orienteering again for a while.
