10 AM

Run 39:00 [3] 5.5 km (7:05 / km)

Run around Benalla lake and parklands. Both knees were a bit tender at the start but improved as l went. I want to continue to pursue my fitness goals. Despite my mishap on day 1 of the 3-days, l definitely felt fitter from my training program this year.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3] 6.11 km (13:06 / km)

Easter Day 3. After some performance 'enabling' drugs, l felt pretty good. Having a compass that pointed to north helped as well. The old one ( which was actually the new one) got ditched yesterday after the needle started sticking and north was about 30 degrees out. Grrr:(. Anyway, apart from a couple of poor route choices, l was relatively clean and came in about where l thought l should. Life returns. Just a bit late.

Orienteering 1:48:00 [3] 7.15 km (15:06 / km)
(injured)

After an evening of ice, antiinflammatories and elevation, then a good sleep, l declared myself fit to start today. The aim was to finish without falling over. This meant walking most of it. This aim was achieved and l'll live to see another day. Made a few errors and wandered aimlessly a bit.
I enjoyed being out in the bush and could have happily ambled for a few more hours.

Orienteering 55:00 [3] 4.55 km (12:05 / km)
(injured)

Day 1. Was an early starter. Plodded along. Got about half way when l came out on a track and tripped over a rock in fairly spectacular style, right in front of Margie. Got grazed hands, elbow and knee (3rd time in 6 months). Large bump came up on the side of my knee. Did 2 more controls before giving up and walked back to the start.
I seem to be making a habit of this. I think l was tired (couldn't sleep again) and don't lift my feet high enough. Disappointed! Spent the rest of the day on ice (the cold variety).

Friday Mar 25, 2016 #

1 AM

Run (Warmup) 7:50 [3] 1.0 km (7:50 / km)

Run 30:00 [3] 3.77 km (7:57 / km)

Easter prologue at the Uni of Canberra. I got a bit confused on several controls, went to 6 before 5 and faded 2/3 into the race. Didn't matter as it was fun.

9 AM

Swim 36:00 [3] 1.0 km (36:00 / km)

Swim in the Benalla pool before driving to Canberra. Cold was a 2 day wonder and l feel fine now. Lovely to have a big stretch out before the event.

Stretching/exercises 6:00 [3]

Note
(sick)

Felt perfectly well on the way to work. Then suddenly l was struck down with sneezing and a runny nose that wouldn't stop. I had to type with one hand.
Just my luck - just as holidays are approaching :(

Orienteering 1:39:00 [3] 6.39 km (15:30 / km)

I remember what orienteering is like! I suppose l can use the excuse that l haven't been for ages.
Big effort on course 4 of the State Series at Nerina. For a moment there l thought it was WOC. Big 10 min problems on 1, 4 and 14. Lots of other smaller mistakes. Next week is going to be interesting.
Re party - doof doof went till 2pm. In the morning l discovered l had scored a bike in the garden. It wasn't a very good one so l checked to make sure they hadn't traded it in for a better one. It was still there this afternoon. Why MY garden!

Saturday Mar 19, 2016 #

Walk 50:00 [3] 5.0 km (10:00 / km)

I felt tired today and it was raining. All l could muster was a walk in the evening. I am hoping to get a good sleep tonight but the well advertised 21st birthday party over the road might put a stop to that !

Wednesday Mar 16, 2016 #

Run 46:45 [3] 5.75 km (8:08 / km)

Street O at Maroondah Triangle. It was a novelty event and it would have been very easy to cheat - but that would have defeated the purpose, which was to get some exercise. The clues were from another generation altogether and l doubt whether anyone under the age of 50 would have related to them.
I didn't go well. My knee was quite tender and probably needs a rest. The event was followed by the annual presentation dinner (prepared by the scouts). I got a 3rd place in C3.

Stretching/exercises 5:00 [3]

6 AM

Run 33:22 [3] 4.5 km (7:25 / km)

Run around Blackburn roads and creeklands, starting in the dark. Knee was a bit tweaky.

Monday Mar 14, 2016 #

8 AM

Run 37:30 [3] 5.5 km (6:49 / km)

Run around the Benalla Lake. Peak hour - lots of dogs and walkers but no other runners today.
Re yesterday - l forgot to mention that we went into Rushworth for lunch and, combined with the murder, it seemed a very lawless place. There were only about 10 people there and half of them looked like they were breaking the law (driving down the footpath, amongst other things) while the other half were buying 6 packs of beer. Peter announced that he wanted to live there.

Sunday Mar 13, 2016 #

MTB 1:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)

Bike ride at Whroo. Missed out in looking at the Balaclava Mine as it was taped off as a crime scene and there were a lot of police and SES in the area. When l got home l read they had found a body there, in suspicious circumstances.

Saturday Mar 12, 2016 #

9 AM

Run 30:57 [3] 4.55 km (6:48 / km)

Run around Benalla Lake until the humidity got the better of me and no more heat could escape. Sort of glad l am not sprinting today.

Wednesday Mar 9, 2016 #

Run 37:38 [3] 5.12 km (7:21 / km)

Street O at Heyington Heights, one of my favourite maps because you have to be very careful with your route choice or you'll end up running a lot further. Having said that, l couldn't have picked a better course or run any faster. 'Happy!.'

Tuesday Mar 8, 2016 #

6 PM

Keiser therapy 30:00 [3]

Not sure it is really worth the money, but l'm giving it a try at least in the short term.
7 PM

Walk/jog 24:11 [3] 2.68 km (9:01 / km)

Bit of a plod around Mont Albert after Keiser, but it was too warm.

Sunday Mar 6, 2016 #

8 AM

Run 39:29 [3] 5.5 km (7:11 / km)

Although it was hot overnight and going to be a scorcher today, l managed to squeeze in a jog around the Benalla lake while temperatures were still mild. Felt good
11 AM

MTB 54:30 [3] 13.6 km (4:00 / km)

Bike ride around Benalla in 40C heat. Not too bad as we generated a bit of a breeze. Very very dry everywhere here

Saturday Mar 5, 2016 #

10 AM

MTB 1:20:00 [3] 20.0 km (4:00 / km)

Slow MTB ride around Wangaratta followed by a coffee in a cafe overlooking the river. . Can't believe how hot it is - the car read 40 C on the way home.

Thursday Mar 3, 2016 #

Keiser therapy 30:00 [3]

First Keiser strength session. Leg exercises. So far so good

Wednesday Mar 2, 2016 #

Walk 48:40 [3] 5.1 km (9:33 / km)

Street O at Greythorn. I started running but got a bit of a tug in my thigh - similarly to one l got after the Monday race. Maybe l have overdone it this week and need to ease off. I walked the rest as l don't east to get injured at this stage.
