Slow jog in Wangaratta. It was very cold and windy, and my time was really slow.

Orienteering 53:00 [3]

Bendigo O Club's 40th birthday event at Wildflower Drive. I thought it would make a good detour en route to Benalla. I wasn't confident of my bearings at all, and aimed off for almost everything. Invis passed me and then pulled something. I then chased after him and tripped over (again) near the finish, sustaining a graze on my good knee. Luckily Louise had a good supply of of bandages in her van and patched me up. Nice celebratory cake and social afternoon tea afterwards. Garmin seems to have turned itself off after 3 seconds and 1 calorie.

Run 32:39 [3] 4.55 km (7:11 / km)

Jog around Blackburn lake and creeklands - shortest route. I haven't run here since before going to NZ! There was some marginal improvement from earlier in the week.

Run 41:00 [3] 4.85 km (8:27 / km)

World Orienteering Day street event at Mullauna (Mitcham). It was great to see such a good turnout. I plodded around slowly with rather a tight hamstring, which l've felt coming on for the past few days - probably the result of too much sitting lately.

Run 31:03 [3] 4.3 km (7:13 / km)

Repeat run around Benalla lake, on shortest route. I felt better than yesterday, although it was still a struggle.

Run 30:14 [3] 4.2 km (7:12 / km)

After nearly 4 weeks off and 6kg lighter, l thought l had better get started again. Jogged slowly around the Benalla lake, on the shortest route. It was an effort and it is going to take me a while to regain my fitness. I've still got a remnant cough - that was some virus!

Walk 20:00 [3] 9.0 km (2:13 / km)
(sick)

Walked slowly around Noosa N,P. Up here for a few days prior to my cousin's wedding on Saturday. Arrived yesterday to find it 18 degrees and raining - felt colder than Melbourne! I believe it was the coldest May day since 1980. Today was alright though. Still coughing but hope this dissipates a bit by the weekend.

Note
(sick)

What can l say - still sick! Still got a bad cough, an earache and am very fatigued.

The positives are;
- l've lost weight
- l've cured my coffee addiction ( none for nearly two weeks)
- l've cured any interest in alcohol
- l've eaten no wheat flour for nearly 2 weeks
-l've dramatically reduced my portion size.

So, if l recover, l might actually make some health gains.

Recovery not as quick as l thought. Still got bad cough, sore throat and ears.

Well, the saga continues. I didn't end up in hospital but rehydrated at home. Turns out the Eye and Ear hospital was only guessing the ailment was viral, as it involved conjunctivitis, of which there is a particularly nastly viral strain going around. After considerable effort, l finally got someone to prescribe antibiotics (they didn't want to waste them on a viral illness) and the effect was almost instant (l could almost feel them work) and l am now much improved and eating small but regular meals. I was not contagious after all.
The upside is l thought l was a bit fat before (after looking at photos of me in the finish chute), but after 7 days of no food, seem to have shed those excess pounds.

Note
(sick)

Went into the Eye and Ear Hospital this morning to get my conjunctivitis sorted, as it underpins (or rather oversees) all my other ailment. I was still feeling lousy and not up to driving or going on train, so sister organised a 'car'. A huge shiny black BMW series 7, with window shades, rolled up. I felt like the Prime Minister, or at least the Mafia, travelling into town. I was also hoping the hospital was going to keep me, but but not to be and l was sent home with a new pile of pills and sprays in a far less solibrious model.
