Orienteering 1:35:00 [3] 5.81 km (16:21 / km)

SS event at Sailor's Creek, not one of my favouite maps as it is typically muddy and the bark and logs slippery. It was a long day as my club was running the event. My run was OK until l became bogged in the green, missed a control towards the end and had to go back, and wandered aimlessly in search of a depression within sight of the finish. Cold and drizzly day.
BTW - if anyone wants to cancel their flight home from the WRC, they could always drive back with me:)

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3] 6.84 km (11:42 / km)

Bendigo club event at Eppalock. I used my new thumb compass but it required changing the hand that I normally carry the map, as the thumb compass with an adjustable dial apparently only comes in the left-handed version. Carrying the map in my left had took a bit of getting used to, and my brain felt quite confused for a while - almost as though I was using new brain pathways.
I felt pretty comfortable with my running, but had a few navigational issues in the vague country - the flags were also very faded and rather hard to spot (I was looking for that flash of fluro red) even when I was quite close. The ground was soft and green - which was lucky as I tripped up again and fell flat on my face - but sustained no lasting injuries (I might have a pro-receptor problem). As I was running through one lovely green grassy section I thought "it would be nice to camp here" - only to stumble across a couple of hike tents about 100 m on. A nice day out.

Run 44:50 [3] 6.0 km (7:28 / km)

Relaxed jog around Blackburn. Back seems to have corrected itself, probably helped by lots of gentle massage and stretching. Getting ready for WRC now. I plan to drive up and back as l have never seen that country.
