Note
(sick)

Pharmaceutical phail today. I tried to replicate the cocktail from yesterday but must have missed a vital ingredient as it didn't work at all. Despite wearing my running clothes to the relay, l was a DNS and felt very ordinary. I decided to cut my losses and head back to Benalla. It was probably a good decision as l discovered l couldn't talk by the time l reached Young and both ordering dim sims and a conversation on the hands-free phone became impossible. Despite that, it was a lovely trip with glorious scenery - one section of particularly scenic canola crops was the site of a long row of cars with what looked like entirely Asian photographers taking photos of their girlfriends with the canola in the background.
Forgot to say how much l enjoyed the carnival. I loved the scenery around Hill End, enjoyed talking to people and was pleased to be consistently midfield.

Orienteering 1:14:26 [3] 6.32 km (11:47 / km)
(sick)

Australian long distance championships at Tambaroora. I messed up #1 by going direct, not seeing a small gully and lost 5 minutes. All the rest were fine, except for taking a long route between 8 and 9.
I felt quite sick during the night and only made it to the start line courtesy of the following(consumed since 6pm the previous night):
4 Dimatapps
1 antihistamine
2 voltarins
3 lots of medicated nasal sprays
6 gargles of betadine
2 sudafeds
2 ventolin puffs
Medicated eye drops
cup of coffee

I felt really good running around. Lucky they weren't drug testing the W55s!

Note
(sick)

Big head cold today. We went to Orange to visit some wineries. I slept in the warm car for one of them. I'm hoping the cold is a 2-day wonder and l can front up at 9:30 tomorrow morning.

Orienteering 56:00 [3] 5.1 km (10:59 / km)
(sick)

Bathurst 3 Days day 3. Macquarie Woods. Unfortunately l came down with a very sore throat and blocked nose and ears overnight, so didn't feel well at all. I seem to always get sick when l go away. I ambled around and didn't try too hard. Knee was also not happy on the steep downhills. I remembered the area from last time we were here.

Orienteering 22:00 [3] 2.76 km (7:58 / km)

Bathurst 3 Day day 2 - school's sprint. Really good interesting course. I could hardly run for the first few controls, then came good for a few in the middle, then tired and staggered into the finish. All good fun. We then visited a winery.
I'm feeling much better today than previous days as l haven't slept well because l was cold. Last night l discovered my bed only had a doona cover (plus blanket) and no doona, while everyone else had a nice cosy doona. Problem is now solved and l was lovely and warm and cosy last night.

Orienteering 1:01:00 [3] 5.5 km (11:05 / km)

Bathurst 3 Day - day 1. Hard 4. It was nice jogging terrain, as long as you didn't trip in the fallen timber. I had a pretty clean run and didn't fall until the end, when l toppled over while stationary after punching the 2nd last control, hurting my little finger and folding back the nail a bit but not damaging grandma's diamonds, which was important! I came mid field.

Walk 3:00:00 [3] 11.67 km (15:25 / km)

Fabulous day trip out with Neil, Julie and Bruce. We went to Kanangra Walls and Jenolan Caves. Fantastic views and lots of stairs. Highlights were the Dance Cave, where there was once a dance floor and they held dances, the coal seam and the wondrous views at Jenolan Caves. Thanks Neil and Julie!
