Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 4.85 km (12:22 / km)

Aus middle distance championships at Foxes Lair. I went well until 11 and then took a dive into the gravel. There was lots of blood on legs, arms and map. I then couldn't find 12 in the rocks and pretty much lost motivation - returning to the start as an MP. After being cleaned up, the wound was not that bad, which was good. I was a bit disappointed though.

Orienteering 23:31 [3] 3.0 km (7:50 / km)

Australian sprint championships at Narrogin Senior High School. I started well, but missed 10, went through the map changeover, then saw my error and had to return to beg for my map back, return to 10, then changeover again. I also badly overshot 14 and got confused. So l was a bit disappointed. However, even 3 minutes would not have seen me beat my friend Jools, so l am happy with that. Great area!

Orienteering 55:00 [3] 4.4 km (12:30 / km)

Wandoo Wander. Lovely piece of bush and great entry level event. I just wandered.....

Walk 1:00:00 [3] 4.5 km (13:20 / km)

Nice walk around the farm where we are staying. Some lovely areas of rock too.

Run 31:14 [3] 4.4 km (7:06 / km)

Historical morning jog around York (we are still here). Loved looking at the renovated historic houses and public buildings. The giant straw turtle and bilby were pretty cool too.

Note

No exercise today. After a morning of minute writing, we went to the Avon NP. However, we didn't read the bit in the information that said there were no marked walking tracks in the park. So we planned to walk along the old rail trail that we could see on the map. Only it wasn't an old rail trail - it was a major intercity rail route, along which trains went every few minutes. Oh well - fortunately the bush was particularly beautiful, with the xanthoreas and speckled barked trees, and we enjoyed that.

Orienteering 36:40 [3] 3.92 km (9:21 / km)

Easter middle distance. I decided to be cautious after the mistakes of yesterday, and took the careful route to everything. It would have paid off, except that l went direct from 10 to 12, passing 11 on the way but assuring myself it wasn't mine, then had to go back. Lost around a minute.
Overall l was comfortable with my placing for Easter. Great, well run carnival with challenging courses.
