Thought an easy hike would be worth doing, since I was pretty tired from yesterday's outing.

So why not go see how the berries are doing in the Pittsfield State Watershed Area? There are bike trails that take one to the blackberries, or if you're a bear you just follow your nose.

I was enjoying my hike, albeit fairly slowly, when I got what I wished for--a huge blackberry area that has grown up in a previously logged section. Only problem is that the blackberry bushes were overhanging the trail, making progress even slower and more painful than expected.

A small blood donation was made.

As I was plowing through the brush, I noticed a rather large pile of bear scat, all purple and full of seeds. Obviously, the bears are already enjoying the ripe berries. And this batch will, no doubt, be consumed before I get to them:
