Trail Running 52:00 [3] 4.5 mi (11:33 / mi)
rhr:47 slept:9.0 weight:144.6lbs

Ran in Kennedy Park--game plan was to take it easy, but I felt surprisingly good. Guess the orienteering the day before wasn't too exhausting. :-)

Orienteering 1:50:00 [3] 5.0 km (22:00 / km)
rhr:45 slept:9.0 weight:144.6lbs

Having finally received a magnifier for my Silva thumb compass, I was anxious to see if it would help with my map reading. It certainly does a good job of magnfiying, but I'm not so sure that it helps me with my understanding of the terrain. :-( Net result is that I DNF'ed after blowing one point pretty badly--at which point I just headed in.

I think I just need to ease back into the sport by doing some O-specific training and perhaps by starting back by just walking some courses for a while. Today i started running from the git-go--a big mistake. I am still overrunning the points, not measuring the distance accurately, and generally not being careful enough around the control.

So, I'll try again next week.

Trail Running 56:00 [3] 4.25 mi (13:11 / mi)
rhr:46 slept:8.5 weight:145lbs

Short trail run in October Mountain State Forest. I haven't been running there much this year, and this run reminded me as to why that was so. It's basically pretty crappy still from all the blow-down from last winter's ice storm, rocky as hell, and wet and muddy along most of the trails. So, what's not to love? :-)

Just beats up the old body a bit much, that's all.

Trail Running 1:12:00 [3] 6.0 mi (12:00 / mi)
rhr:46 slept:8.5 weight:143.6lbs

I had intended to do a nice leisurely, but long trail run today, but after about 30 minutes I felt as though I had hit the wall. Low blood sugar, I suspect. Did a little walking and then trotted back to the car at an, indeed, leisurely pace. :-)
