Trail Running race 5:59:10 [5] 18.7 mi (19:12 / mi) +4708ft 15:31 / mi
On a beautiful day with temps in the low 70s and very low humidity, the Escarpment Trail Run reached its 41st birthday and I got the best chance to get under six hours. Mission accomplished with a 5:59:10, but it wasn't easy.
While I've been hiking a lot this year, my running has been minimal; and run one must at Escarpment if you want a good time. I did avoid bonking this year, which was great, but after North Point, I had cramping problems, which slowed me down, but I was able to run most of the way to the finish, just slower than I would have preferred.
My buddy, Bruce Shenker, completed his 17th Escarpment and earned his 300-mile T shirt with a time of 5:28--well done.
