Hiking 35:15 [3] 1.65 mi (21:22 / mi) +837ft 14:26 / mi

Drove to Jerusalem Road in Tyringham to hike south on the AT. There's a very steep hill which is soon followed by another substantial climb. Once I had been out for 35 minutes, I decided that was enough walking and I could then run back to the car.

Hiking 23:16 [3] 1.65 mi (14:06 / mi) +266ft 12:14 / mi

And then I ran back almost al the way to the car, save for one little steep uphill portion.

Saw seven thru hikers during my hike/run, but I didn't find any opportunity to chat with any of them--they all seemed intent on moving, rather than talking; most likely they were thinking of setting up the evening soon and pushing to get to the Shaker Tentsite, or perhaps the Goose Pond Shelter.

Hiking 1:48:18 [3] 5.6 mi (19:20 / mi) +768ft 17:07 / mi

Out early, for me, for a hike on the bike trails south of Reservoir Road. Nice and cool and I had the trail to myself, save for the hundred salamanders. :-)

And even the FDFs were not a problem--only a few dared show up and they were dispatched quickly.

Trail Running 1:00:47 [3] 5.15 mi (11:48 / mi) +600ft 10:38 / mi

A run in Kennedy Park starting from the Church on the Hill in Lenox. No warm-up, just a slow start since it was mainly flat for the first mile.

Hiking 16:46 [3] 1.0 mi (16:46 / mi) +256ft 13:30 / mi

Drove to Kennedy Park to do the five-mile loop. Needed to warm-up, so I opted to just hike the first mile of the loop.

Hiking 44:32 [3] 4.0 mi (11:08 / mi) +404ft 10:10 / mi

And then I ran the rest of the way; the warm-up seems to be a good idea before running nowadays. Comes with old age evidently.

Met some bikers before I started on the loop and they asked me for some advice on which trails to take. I was offering some suggestions when the guy said that he had the map on an app--so I asked him to show it to me. It was the trail map of Kennedy Park and as he moved along the trails, a dot would show him where he was at any time. Cool app since you can upload any trail map and then see where you are on the map using the phone's GPS. The app is called Maprika.
