Trail Running (and hiking) 2:27:41 [3] 8.4 mi (17:35 / mi) +1417ft 15:10 / mi

Back to the Monroe Dunbar Brook Trail Race course. This time I wanted to do a reverse loop, so that I could flag the trail, hoping that I would not get lost near the end as I did last time. That went well, the marking was just near where the course crosses the brook. Then I decided to run uphill as much as I could along the Dunbar Brook Trail. While I probably covered 80% of the distance, there was one section that's just too steep for me to run.

I then opted to short-cut the race loop since I was quite tired. Did manage to help a couple of women who had wandered off their intended path, and that was a nice break.

Hiking 2:18:20 [3] 7.75 mi (17:51 / mi) +1093ft 15:45 / mi

Back to the bike trails south of Reservoir Road in Lenox. I am really liking this twisty hilly loop. It was so cool today that my fingers almost couldn't open a ginger chew that was wrapped in a sealed plastic case.

After-dinner walk around the condo grounds. Legs were a little sore after yesterday's run.

Trail Running 2:29:16 [3] 10.0 mi (14:56 / mi) +2077ft 12:28 / mi

Back to the Monroe Dunbar Brook Trail to see if I could learn the right trails for the race. I was fairly successful, but managed to miss a turn near the end and had to bushwhack a bit to get back to the finish line. No big deal since I was running downhill mainly at the end.

I did walk some of the uphills in the first half, which I will probably have to do on race day, but if I want to get my time down, I'm definitely going to need to run some of those uphills. ;-)
