Training Log Archive: Fanatic

Afternoon walk with Colette on the snow-covered dirt road next to Woods Pond, and out-and-back. Fortunately, the road had been driven, so the tracks were pretty good for walking, only slipped a few times.

Since I had to go to Berkshire Community College today, I decided to get a hike in while waiting to drive some students back to Simon's Rock. I parked at the end of West Street in Pittsfield and headed north into Pittsfield State Forest. After about five miles, I was on Berry Pond Circuit Road, where the Taconic Crest trail crosses, so I headed south on that.

Eventually, I needed to get back to BCC, which was a bit southeast of where I was, so I bushwhacked down to the Skyline Trail and eventually onto the trail I had started on. However, I did have some navigation issues, turning south on a trail that I should have gone north on for a while; but in the end, I recognized the trail and got out in one piece. ;-)

And, btw, these were wet, rocky, sometimes hilly trails with lots of erosion problems. And today, they were covered with an inch to three inches of snow, making for the rather pedestrian looking time per mile; in fact, I actually ran about 1.5 miles, mainly downhill, but that didn't seem to affect the overall pace too much.

A little running for a change--out toward Woods Pond and back. Not feeling particularly energetic and a lack of a walking warm-up didn't help either. Still nice to run though. Just need to get consistent with doing it.

Couple of walks with Colette out to the black cows and back, in the morning and evening. And one walk on Forest Street in Lee, an out-and-back.
