Note: I'v been having some problems with ingrown toenails on both of my big toes. About three weeks ago, it was obvious that I needed to get them tended to by a podiatrist. A quick visit to Dr. Bravo in Pittsfield confirmed that he needed to cut out the ingrown portion of the toenails and then chemically cauterize the nerve so that that portion, i.e., the outside edges of the toenail, would not grow back.
Today I had the procdure done--a couple of novacaine shots in both toes and then a lot of cutting b Dr. Bravo, which, fortunately, I didn't have to watch. And then a prescription to soak the feet each night for a couple of weeks and to apply some drops of anti-bacterial lotion combined with hydrocortisone for four weeks. Those drops are normally used for swimmer's ear and were not cheap--$73 for a small bottle.
After-dinner walk with Colette on the condo grounds, in very loose fitting running shoes. No appreciable pain in the toes.
