Hiking 2:26:17 [3] 6.75 mi (21:40 / mi) +1015ft 18:58 / mi

Hike on the bike trails to the south of Reservoir Road. The snow had diminished a fair bit since I was the trails on Wednesday, but there was 3-4" in some areas, which made for slow going at times.

Gym Work 20:00 [3] 0.0 mi

Went to Simon's Rock with Colette to do some work on the stairmaster and some walking on the track.

I've never been on a stairmaster before, but Colette was touting it as a good machine for getting your heart rate up, so I thought I'd give it a try. It was pleasant enough, although a bit confusing to figure out the right settings.

So I managed to do 20 minutes on the machine, equivalent to 80 flights, according to the readout. I'll explore doing this a bit more.

Walking 48:00 [3] 3.2 mi (15:00 / mi)

Walk on the indoor track at Simon's Rock.

Friday Jan 24 #

Walking 1:40:15 [3] 6.11 mi (16:24 / mi) +600ft 15:01 / mi

Walk with Colette along Under Mountain Road out to Route 183 and back, followed by a short up-and-down on Reservoir Road. Brilliant sunshine and 48°F made it feel like spring.

Thursday Jan 23 #

Walking 1:51:31 [3] 7.05 mi (15:49 / mi) +370ft 15:04 / mi

Clockwise loop up Golden Hill, through Lenox Dale and out past Lenox WTF. Then back via Woods Pond and Woodland Road to the condo.

Nice 40°F temperature and some sunshine.

Hiking 1:36:43 [3] 5.17 mi (18:42 / mi) +650ft 16:43 / mi

Hike on the bike trails to the south of Reservoir Road.

Much to my surprise, the trails had been groomed! Seems that some sort of fat tire bike was equipped with some device to flatten the snow, and I suspect that the bike might have been an electric mountain bike. I say that because the track was very uniform and seemed to have been made in a downhill direction, with some short, but steep climbs where the bike seems to have powered up those sections without sliding and slipping.

As for hiking on the groomed trail, it was still hard work since the snow was dry and slippery under foot. Still, nice to be out on the local trails again.

Tuesday Jan 21 #

Walking 40:51 [3] 2.32 mi (17:36 / mi) +180ft 16:24 / mi

Walk on the condo grounds with Colette.

Pretty tired from the trip, but felt that a little walking might be good.

Monday Jan 20 #

Walking 1:10:25 [3] 3.33 mi (21:09 / mi) +70ft 20:44 / mi

And, finally, it's time to catch a couple of planes back to Massachusetts. So just a walk downtown to get to the Skytrain shuttle that brings me to the airport.
