Hiking 2:08:27 [3] 6.52 mi (19:42 / mi) +512ft 18:20 / mi

Hike with Colette in Beartown State Forest. First up was a hike to the Perry Burial Ground, followed by a hike on the Beartown Mountain Trail.

Colette agreed that the BMT is, indeed, a very nice trail for Beartown, since most of the other trails there are rocky, eroded or both.

Hiking 2:35:07 [3] 7.25 mi (21:24 / mi) +1400ft 18:05 / mi

Hike in the Holyoke Range State Park with Peter Crisci and Salem Mazzawy. We got going around 9:40 a.m., and it was already difficult at that time to find a parking space.

Sslem lives on Bachelor Street and had biked up to the Visitors Center and had hiked the 7 Sisters Trail before joining Peter and me for the hike. As an aside, it took him 2:08 for the Sisters.

We opted for a low route wherever possible with the exception that we did climb past the horse caves and the summit of Mount Norwottuck.

Social distancing wasn't too hard for most of the route, until we got near Norwottuck and there were many more hikers from there back to the cars.

Hiking 1:18:00 [3] 4.2 mi (18:34 / mi) +492ft 16:43 / mi

Hike in Kennedy Park. A bit tired from yesterday's hike and since I'm also hiking with some friends tomorrow at Mt. Holyoke, I cut it short.

Hiking 2:15:56 [3] 7.03 mi (19:20 / mi) +837ft 17:23 / mi

Hike on the bike trails to the south of Reservoir Road. My usual 7-mile loop that goes clockwise. Didn't meet anyone on the trails.

Hiking 1:29:55 [3] 5.15 mi (17:28 / mi) +600ft 15:43 / mi

Hike in Kennedy Park. The trails were now completely covered with leaves after the heavy overnight rains, mostly with Aspen leaves, so the trials looked liked golden pathways.

Hiking 1:53:19 [3] 6.25 mi (18:08 / mi) +571ft 16:41 / mi

Another hike in Beartown State Forest. I drove up the road and parked where the Beartown Mountain Trail starts from Beartown State Forest Road. But rather than heading up the BMT, I went north a little and picked up the Mt. Wilcox Trail. My mission was to find the Perry Burial Ground, one of two cemeteries in the forest, which I had seen years ago, but couldn't find it recently when Colette expressed an interest in seeing it.

The Web is the place to get the co-ordinates, which I did after my hike with Colette, so there was no problem finding it again.

After that, I continued on the Mt. Wilcox Trail heading east, then got on Sky Peak Road for a while before taking the Airplane Trail down to the Beartown Mountain Road. From there I turned left and back to my car.

Back at the car, I wanted to hike up the Beartown Mountain Trail to where I had picked it up yesterday, after climbing up the Wildcat Trail. It was very nice 0.8-mile section before I hit that junction. And then back to the car.

Hiking 2:47:14 [3] 9.06 mi (18:27 / mi) +1132ft 16:30 / mi

Hike in Beartown State Forest. I wanted to see more of the Beartown Mountain Trail (BMT), so I parked outside the gate on the Lee side of the park and then went up the Wildcat Trail to the BMT. I followed that south and eventually it joined Beartown Mountain Road, close to where the Mt. Wilcox Trail junctions and took that to the right. Soon after the Turkey Trail peels off to the left, I decided to take that heading north as I had done enough climbing.

Turkey comes out on Mt. Wilcox Road where I went left to join the Beartown Mountain Road and headed north back to my car.
