Hiking 2:56:15 [3] 9.03 mi (19:31 / mi) +997ft 17:40 / mi

Hike with Colette on the bike trails near Sykes Mountain. The parking lot was almost full when we got there a little after 10 a.m., but we only met two mountain bikers on the trail during our hike.

Another beautiful fall day, but rather chilly when we started. Hats and gloves were on, for sure.

Hiking 1:58:10 [3] 5.33 mi (22:10 / mi) +384ft 20:45 / mi

Hike with Colette around Washington Mountain Lake and then a bit more on the dirt roads. The rangers have done some work on the trail around the lake--installed a few new boards on the boardwalks, much needed as the old ones were rotting away.

Beautiful day, but we were the only ones on the trail.

Hiking 2:44:19 [3] 8.4 mi (19:34 / mi) +1184ft 17:16 / mi

Hike on the bike trails to the south of Reservoir Road. I extended my usual loop to get up to eight miles. Rained the entire hike, but I had Gore-Tex on which kept me fairly dry. My gloves still got wet and that led to some cold hands toward the end of the hike. Perhaps needless to say, but I didn't see anyone on the trails today.

Hike with Colette on Jerusalem Road and an out-and-back on a trail that she didn't know about.

Beautiful warm day for a change.

Walk with Colette on the condo grounds. Nice to see the temperature on the rise for a change.

Hiking 1:41:24 [3] 5.0 mi (20:17 / mi) +433ft 18:45 / mi

Hike on part of The Finger Trail to the north of Reservoir Road. Must say that while it was a beautiful day, with great fall colors and fairly warm at 60°F, I just wasn't feeling that great. So I took it easy and didn't push the distance either.

Didn't see anyone else on the trail, per usual.

Hiking 1:35:50 [3] 5.4 mi (17:45 / mi) +630ft 15:59 / mi

Hike in Kennedy Park in the rain. At first, I thought I was the only one in the park, but toward the end of my hike, I met a couple of dog walkers and saw one trail runner who was moving along quite nicely. Most of the runners in Kennedy Park are just recreational runners, but today's runner knew what he was doing and was definitely training hard.

Turns out that my new North Face lightweight nylon jacket with DWR is good for only about an hour+ before the rain seeps through. No complaints since I love the light weight and quietness of the nylon.

Hiking 2:52:14 [3] 9.12 mi (18:53 / mi) +997ft 17:07 / mi

Hike from New Lenox Road into the bike trails near Sykes Mountain, aka Pittsfield State Watershed Area.

I really like this area, it's very quiet, with lots of pine and fir trees, good footing and hardly used, even by the bikers. I saw two bikers today, that's it.
