Hiking 2:26:16 [3] 6.5 mi (22:30 / mi) +1060ft 19:30 / mi

Hike with Colette on the groomed bike trails to the south of Reservoir Road. Even with the trails in good shape, the snow is still fairly loose, which slowed our pace a bit. We met one mountain biker and a couple on snowshoes.

Hiking 1:31:01 [3] 4.7 mi (19:22 / mi) +450ft 17:45 / mi

On on the snow-covered bike trails to the south of Reservoir Road. The fat-tire bikers had been out, so the trails were in good shape.

Met two mountain bikers, but no one else.

Walking 2:26:07 [3] 9.07 mi (16:07 / mi) +750ft 14:56 / mi

Took a break from walking on snow and decided to hit the roads. Went out via Woods Pond to just past Lenox WTF, then up to Delafield and East streets before heading down Walker Street. Then over Golden Hill Road and a small out-and back before heading to the condo.

Snowshoeing 2:16:08 [3] 6.16 mi (22:06 / mi) +572ft 20:19 / mi

Snowshoeing on the bike trails to the south of Reservoir Road. I chose snowshoes since I was pretty sure that most of the trails would not yet have been biked by the fat-tire guys. But as I started out, much to my surprise, I only went about 50' and there was a groomed trail waiting for me! True, it hadn't been biked recently, but it was flat, and fairly firm underfoot. Still hard work on the climbs though.

Can't complain about a groomed bike trail!

Hiking 2:00:56 [3] 7.16 mi (16:53 / mi) +675ft 15:30 / mi

Hike from the south end of Woods Pond. Went around the end of the pond heading north until I had done three miles, then reversed direction. Decided to add another mile, so I did a short out-and-back along Woodland Road and then back to the car.

The dirt road had been snowmobiled in one section and driven on by 4-wheel vehicles in the other sections. Overall a bit slow going, but nothing too horrible. Pushed the pace coming back.

3 PM

Hiking 45:59 [3] 2.31 mi (19:54 / mi) +210ft 18:20 / mi

Hike with Colette in Kennedy Park. About 2-3" of new snow made for slow going, especially since there hadn't been enough traffic to pack it down.

After a few miles, I'd had enough and suggested we leave and go for a walk on roads.

4 PM

Walking 1:05:04 [3] 4.02 mi (16:11 / mi) +130ft 15:42 / mi

Walk with Colette from the condo grounds out to Woods Pond and back. Roads were pretty well cleared and then the plow came and cleaned things up even more.

Monday Feb 8 #

Walking 36:12 [3] 2.04 mi (17:45 / mi) +180ft 16:23 / mi

Walk on the condo grounds. A short walk since I had my colonoscopy this morning, so no need to push it today.

The colonoscopy went well--no polyps, no cancer, but I do have some Diverticulosis, which evidently almost half of all Amerians over 60 seem to exhibit.
