Hiking 2:15:40 [3] 7.01 mi (19:21 / mi) +550ft 18:01 / mi

Hike on the bike trails to the south of Reservoir Road. The trails had been biked a bit, so the footing was good.

Met one woman who was hiking with her dog and one biker.

Note

Received my second CV-19 vaccination today. Much to my surprise, the center was practically empty, especially compared to my first trip there.

As I entered the center, there were two people in front of me. Once I finished checking in, there was no one waiting to get vaccinated, so in I went.

Colette got her first shot in Pittsfield after having volunteered at registration.

Walking 1:10:37 [3] 4.03 mi (17:31 / mi) +315ft 16:19 / mi

Walk on the condo grounds, multiple 0.6-mile loops. Only a little snow on the roads.

Walking 1:19:11 [3] 5.02 mi (15:46 / mi) +220ft 15:09 / mi

Walk out to Woods Pond and back. Very light snow falling and cold, but not too windy. Had to keep it short since I had a dental appointment.

Wednesday Feb 17 #

Hiking 1:39:44 [3] 6.04 mi (16:31 / mi) +640ft 15:00 / mi

Hike with Colette on Jerusalem Road in Tyringham, an out-and-back. The dirt road was almost clear of all ice so the footing was good. Very little traffic on this road, so rather pleasant place to hike.

Tuesday Feb 16 #

Hiking 1:49:02 [3] 6.53 mi (16:42 / mi) +420ft 15:44 / mi

Hike on the bike trails and on Reservoir Road. Thought I would be able to hike on the trails, but that didn't last too long as the snow was quite softened by the overnight rain and the above-freezing temperatures. I found that I was sinking in about 4" when I started, so I bailed to the dirt roads--Pleasant Valley Road and Reservoir Road.

Once on the top of Reservoir Road, I again attempted the trails, thinking that going downhill wouldn't be too bad--wrong! I was sinking in even more on the deeper snow up high, like 6" deep. Just too tiring to keep that up, so back to Reservoir Road and my car. Live and learn.

Monday Feb 15 #

Walking 1:42:23 [3] 6.08 mi (16:50 / mi) +370ft 15:55 / mi

Walk with Colette for part of the loop before she peeled off and headed back to the condo. Slight drizzle at times and then it turned to light snow.
The roads were wet, but not slippery.
