Hiking 1:49:56 [3] 6.25 mi (17:35 / mi) +527ft 16:17 / mi

Hike with Colette around the eastern side of Woods Pond and back. There was a lot of ice along the dirt road, thanks to the recent high temperatures and the 4x4 vehicular traffic that had flattened the snow.

We met about a half dozen people enjoying the warm weather.

Hiking 2:11:55 [3] 6.6 mi (19:59 / mi) +1049ft 17:22 / mi

Hike with Colette in Beartown State Forest. The trails have a lot of snow, like 12" deep, but the Wildcat Trail, on which we did an out-and-back, was packed down just enoughy by snowmobilers that we could hike with our studded shoes.

Didn't meet anyone on the trail, nor were there any wildlife sightings either.

Hiking 2:01:59 [3] 6.54 mi (18:39 / mi) +930ft 16:26 / mi

Hike with Colette in Kennedy Park. While most of the trails are packed down, they tend to be rough, or uneven, especially compared to a trail that has been ridden by the fat-tire bikers.

It was a beautful, sunny day although we didn't see many folks out there; mainly dog walkers.

Hiking 2:13:00 [3] 6.52 mi (20:24 / mi) +544ft 18:54 / mi

Hike on the bike trails to the south of Reservoir Road. My first trail hadn't been biked for a while, so the accumulated snow was soft and led to sinking in a bit. After a mile and a half, I got back on some biked trails--what a difference. Gotta love those bikers!

Walking 1:58:35 [3] 7.19 mi (16:30 / mi) +460ft 15:33 / mi

Clockwise loop on the roads from the condo; Golden Hill, Walker Street, East Street and Delafield Road, past Woods Pond on Woodland Road and then back home. Roads were wet, but clear of snow and ice thanks to the 40°F temperature.

Hiking 2:07:12 [3] 7.06 mi (18:01 / mi) +889ft 16:06 / mi

Hike from the parking lot at the end of New Lenox Road up to Lenox Whitney Place Road and back.

The dirt road had been snowmobiled and another couple of inches had accumulated after they had been active this weekend. The snow was slightly wet, so it wasn't too bad for hiking as it compressed nicely.

I did meet two snowmobilers, one woman walking her dogs, and a dad and his son on an ATV.

Hiking 2:11:37 [3] 6.02 mi (21:52 / mi) +725ft 19:38 / mi

Hike with Colette on the bike trails to the south of Reservoir Road. With today's snowfall, the trails were under another inch or two of new snow, so it was a bit slow going. We both overdressed as it was nowhere near as windy as the weather forecast suggested.

We spotted one biker with his dog as they were ahead of us, but no one else.
