Hike in Beartown State Forest. Started at the bottom gate since the road to the top is in terrible condition. Did a large clockwise balloon loop.

Met four mountain bikers and five other people hiking-all in the same group.

Hike with Colette and Peter Crisci from Branbury State Park out to Moosalamoo Campground, then up to Mt. Moosalamoo before dropping down to the Sucker Brook and following the trail back to the park.

Peter had biked 145 miles the day before, so he was on his best behavior, i.e., he didn't sprint away from us on the uphills.

Beautiful day, mid to high-70°sF, with some breeze at the higher elevatons.

Hiking 2:02:38 [3] 6.38 mi (19:13 / mi) +474ft 17:57 / mi

Hike with Colette at Battell Woods in Middlebury. Though only a 95-acre parcel, this area is packed with mountain bike trails and we managed to do 5.5 miles in Battell and then we wandered across the road into Means Woods where we did a bit more.

There were some hills in Battell, a few more than we had expected; nothing difficult, but fun to encounter. We met a lot of dog walkers and a few people just walking/hiking, but no mountain bikers.

Hiking 2:31:36 [3] 6.45 mi (23:30 / mi) +1033ft 20:25 / mi

Hike with Colette from Route 53 near Dunmore Lake in Salisbury, Vermont. We hiked up to the Moosalamo Campground and back.

Met a large number of people who were hiking up to the Falls of Lana, some spectacular falls along Sucker Brook. However, past that area we met only a few people.

Hiking 2:24:18 [3] 6.8 mi (21:13 / mi) +1065ft 18:29 / mi

Hike with Colette in the Snake Mountain Wildlife Management Area in Addison and Weybridge in Vermont. We did a counterclockwise lollipop loop that included taking us to the top of the mountain where a great view to the west included Lake Champlain.

The eastern-most trail was fantastic, great footing and beautiful woods with rolling terrain, including bogs and a mix of deciduous and fir trees. And no other hikers on that section. All the hikers were found on the main trail to the summit.

Hiking 2:06:14 [3] 6.24 mi (20:14 / mi) +623ft 18:29 / mi

Hike with Colette on Chipman Hill, just east of Middlebury. Some of the trails are part of TAM--Trail Around Middlebury.

A nice wooded area with maintained trails and modest climbs. We saw one runner and a fawn.

Alas, the views were rather meh due to the haze.
