Hike on the Brothers, Charcoal and Burbank Trails:

A rather beautiful day, considering that rain was forecast today. And a temperature in the mid-70sF and fairly benign humidy left nothing to complain about. :-)

Beartown State Forest Hike:

An old running and hiking friend of mine, Bruce Shenker, had never hiked in Beartown, but I have, so I suggested a loop that was about 9 miles.

I came prepared for the bugs--Natrapel which I applied to my arms and legs and sprayed on my hat also. Didn't have any problems at all. Bruce, on the other hand doesn't use any repellant and was complaining from time to time about the bugs.

I actually shortened the route as we went along since Bruce said that he'd prefer to be finished by 2 or 3 pm, instead of his original target of no later than 4 pm.

We ended up with 10 miles, so it was a wise move to shorten the course as we went along.

Hike on the rail trail in Granby, CT:

Colette needed a ride to Bradley International Airport and she wanted to be early for her flight to Belgium. We left around 2 pm and it took about an hour and a quarter to get there.

Since her flight wasn't leaving until 6pm, I wanted to stay fairly close to Bradley in case something went wrong with her flight. The rail trail is about 10 minutes away, so I went there to kill some time. And we texted back and forth while I hiked.

Fortunately, everything went well; last I heard she was on the Air Lingus flight and had an entire row to herself--which meant she could get a good nap in during the flight.
