Orienteering race (Trail race) 3:26:47 [3] 30.0 km (6:54 / km)

Felt slow to start with, for the mostly uphill first 8km of the course, felt really good for the second 8km or so, with speedy downhills. Started to realise I was struggling after the second drinks stop- stopped to pull my socks up and my legs were shaking. By the third drinks stop I had absolutely no energy left in me, after having a rather random breakfast and not taking any food out with me. After that it was a case of dragging my arse kicking and screaming back to the finish - alternating jogging, walking and taking short breaks. Next time will be definitely taking energy gels out with me!

In the first km I also managed to fall over and slide down Primrose Hill for a bit on the wet grass - apparently I was a bit of a liability this morning!

British relay champs, Women's Premier. 5th in on 1st leg (fastest Heather Gardner = 30:07). Clean run and was 3rd coming into finish field, then lost time due to much longer gaffle and associated confusion on the penultimate control! Distance run = 5.69km

Orienteering race (Long distance) 1:37:52 [4] 9.83 km (9:57 / km) +505m 7:55 / km

British Champs W21E 11th position (1st = Sarah Rollins in 75:06). Slow, eight minutes mistake and wrong route choice on the long leg. Garmin says I ran 10km in 1:25 - so must have stopped it early. Looks to be a lot longer than the measured distance though.

FINALLY!!!! After almost two and a half years living in London, I eventually made it to a running club session. Lots of fun gossiping with speedy women on a steady run around Hampstead Heath - inspired by all their marathon times. Now I just need to see if I manage to come again...though I'm already booked up with other things for the next two Tuesdays.
