Orienteering race (Long distance race) 1:25:07 [4] **** 12.1 km (7:02 / km) +185m 6:32 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

Long distance race running M21E. Typical Woodhill Forest sand dune pine forest.

Most controls sights were not difficult but 2 controls in low vis pines could have been easily missed and 1 control in 'the maze' could have been easily missed. I lost 1 minute on a low vis control and had a number of small errors especially with my direction toward the end of the course. I lost less the 3 minutes due to technical mistakes. My running was slower than usual and got even slower towards the end as I began to vegetate.

I also got a bit dehydrated (after starting at 10:30 the next time I went to the toilet was 3:30 and I drank a lot of water!) =O

Orienteering race (middle distance race) 40:33 [5] **** 6.8 km (5:58 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

First time running M21E in forest. Finished 5th. Detailed sand dune pine forest typical of Woodhill Forest with some very complex areas and some smooth vague areas.

My running was fast and I made good use of traffic lighting - opening out on the easy legs and slowing down near the control in the detailed sections. Most legs were done very straight. I lost 2 minutes on the control with the faded flag which I should have spiked, and 1 minute on a short leg in some tricky detial because my direction was bad. There was some times when I was hesitant but probably for the best.

Orienteering race (3 stage sprint race) 19:32 [5] *** 3.2 km (6:06 / km)
shoes: Nike Vomero+

First time in M21E finished 3rd

Sprint 1 (1km) at Mt Albert Grammar was good, and I got the route choices right.

Sprint 2 (0.8) at Mt Albert was good too but shoes weren't grippy enough

Sprint 3 (1.4) at Mt Albert Research centre was an awesome sprint! The route choices caught me out on 3 occasions were I hadnt planned ahead enought and didnt notice quicker routes, but the rest was very fast.
