Running (grass) 23:00 [2] 5.0 km (4:36 / km)
shoes: Asics Piranha SP 3

Recovery run after Kauri Run yesterday. A few slightly sore muscules but mainly my left calf due to the cramping from yesterday I suspect. I felt especially fast though and my breathing was good. I was having troublt with pains near my diaphragm again.

Running (Trail) race (Kauri Run) 2:48:00 [4] 32.0 km (5:15 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon (pair 3)

The Great Kauri run from Waikauwau Bay to Coromandel. I new I had been doing low volume so I expected to feel fresh but wasnt sure on my form of how my body would cope with a run longer than 90minutes.

I kept to my race plan though the first 8km to the lookout at 350m and where Darren had about 30 seconds on me. I had been suffering from stitch a bit and was running easier than I wanted to because I new if it got bad early I would lose lots of time.

I was steady up all the hill on the ridge line and dropped the others who I was with but again lost more time near 20km because of more pain in my lower abs. I got my breathing into a certain rhythm with helped to miniumise the pain.

I was 2 minutes down on Darren crossing Kennedy bay road and just got overtaken so was in 4th place but was still confined I could gain close to 5minutes on everyone else on the technical downhill. All was going to plan and I moved quickly into 3rd but started to develop cramp in my left calf. I stopped to stretch a few times and didn't lose much time. I still felt I could catch Darren soon until my right calf fully cramped. A nice walker helped me out with some anti cramp cream which I think did a good job and I was running again in less than 2 minutes.

I started smashing the long down hill to the finish still hoping to catch Darren but tripped and bailed very hard on the dry 4 wheel drive track and cramped up really bad. Exactly the same as last year! Couldn't believe it! I lost about 2 minutes trying to get up and then stretching. I gave up the chase then because my calves where not working properly and I was a bit shaken from the hard bail. Once I was on the road I pushed hard to the finish to take third with Chris Morresy winning and Darren Ashmore in second.

Orienteering (Summer Series) 1:02:35 [4] **
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon (pair 3)

Summer Series at Mt Richmond. Some really bad/old mapping. Lost about 5 minutes because of stuffed up map. I felt quite fast and aggressive but then out of now where comes the stitch! I walked for a bit and then just sat down. Was quite painful and just wouldn't go away.

Running (grass) 27:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:24 / km)
shoes: Asics Piranha SP 3

Easy run. Still feeling fragile especially on the harder surfaces and had all sorts of pains through my chest at various stages.

Running (Terrain) 49:00 [4] 8.0 km (6:08 / km)
shoes: Icebug Spirit olx

Run with Tom from Muriwai. Legs felt good just wish whatever is happening inside me would stop. Getting very used to training in the evening now. Pains in my left leg taking some time to warm up too.

Early in the run we were to busy talking and realised we were in the middle of a wedding photo. I think they found it funny too, but great spot!
