Orienteering ◪ race (Score-O) 30:17 [3] *** 5.45 km (5:33 / km) +21m 5:27 / km
spiked:19/19c shoes: Inov-8 Talon 212 (2)

Plan was to get out early and then head to fota after. Took in all the controls to the north of the river on the outbound leg and to the south on the back. Got to control no.6 and no kite, circled the bush for a while and still no sign of it so just moved on. We reckon the guy putting out the kites that early had mixed up a few of the codes and was changing the controls around, it was there for dad as he started with the south side but for me and zac there was no sign of it. Lost a good 90seconds here searching. Anything that was marked as marsh was totally impassible as was a lot of the forested areas after all the rain, that said a fun easy gallop around.

Few corko members ran aswell seeing as the fota event was off

Note

Fota event got cancelled so no chance to have some fun with the GoPro which was a pity. Only one race today, not the 2 we were hoping for

Running (Road) race 10:00 [2] 1.2 km (8:20 / km) +1m 8:18 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Noosa Tri-8

jog on the grass, few drills and then down to the start and some strides
12 PM

Running (Road) race (Belgooly 4mile) 21:37 [5] 6.42 km (3:22 / km) +63m 3:13 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Noosa Tri-8

Dad, zac and myself headed west to do this. The race itself was pretty stacked with nearly all the top cork athletes there and one cobh/swedish fella who looked pretty good. Fast start up the hill and along the roads, settled into the chase pack. Legs felt pretty heavy and just wasnt feeling strong. Chugged away up the hills and had nick in sights but couldnt close the gap, it didnt really get any bigger after a mile and a bit, just stayed the same. The time is not blisteringly fast by any means but wouldve been on for a 5mile pb so not all bad.

Dad got back to running for the first time in a while and zac ran a 31:58, just under the 8min/mile pace, after running a good mile yesterday, in his first road race.

Plenty of orienteers around with colm and toni there

Easy jog across the cliffs with dad to get some gopro footage to try and play with. Going to wear it for the CorkO score event tomorrow in Fota for fun
10 PM

Note

Early start tomorrow to get out to Ballincollig for the BOC christmas event and get a short snappy gallop in there, then back in the car and on to Fota for the CorkO christmas event.

Running (Road) race (Goal Mile) 5:12 [4] 1.63 km (3:11 / km) +6m 3:08 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Noosa Tri-8

Track was icy so it was around the car park. Nobody to race so just chilled really and cruised around, just about intensity 4

Running (Road) race (Goal Mile) 5:12 [4] 1.63 km (3:11 / km) +6m 3:08 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Noosa Tri-8

Somebody took the lead for the first part but after 150m i was on my own so just trotted around again. Same time as the first one, and again just about intensity 4. Mum crutched around it with dad as a pacer, uncle ciaran kitted off for a jog and zac did a 6:29min which isnt too shabby

Running (Road) 2:06 [2] 0.33 km (6:22 / km) +2m 6:11 / km
