Running (Road) 6:00 [2] 0.8 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Noosa Tri-9

Start list as of last night said i was starting at 14:46 based on the Quali results. Turned up to the arena at 13:45ish so had loads of time to get the gead and body ready. Then Niamh passed on the good news that they completely changed the start times and that i was at 14:06:30 now instead. Only got this quick warm up in and time to settle the head. This got the heart rate up with some panic, but kept calm and went through the motions. Did the usual drills just less of them.

Orienteering ◪ race (EOC Sprint B Final) 16:10 [5] **** 4.5 km (3:36 / km) +100m 3:14 / km
spiked:20/21c shoes: Asics Gel Noosa Tri-9

Optimum routes (i think how its measured at sprint) was 3.6km. 4.5km is a rough guesstimate seeing as there were lots of around routes to run

In the start boxes we only got the control descriptions with 30secs before the start which was a bit of a farce to say the least. Started between Estonia and Belarus i think was behind me.

Route to 1 was a simple up and down route. 2 i made sure to read descriptions and hit the inside corner. 3 i went back up and then around so as to avoid the steps and keep the flow towards 4. 5 was a tough climb up through the park, which was all olive green and out of bounds despite organisers telling us that there were no out of bounds on the course. 6,7 were good, maybe missed the optimum to 7 but was still clean and going well. Got back out of the castle well and down to 8, saw lots of people making mistakes with trying to get out by the high uncrossable wall. 9,10,11,12 all clean and running well. 13 was good although they seemed to neglect mapping the large wall near the control site. 14 was clean and then through the map exchange in the arena. Got the map well and back onto it, small mistake to 15 where some people decided to sit directly infront of the control blocking it. 16 took on the steps and then around to 17. Through the open, over the earth bank and around the end of the uncrossable wall to 18 where i was almost with the Estonian who started ahead of me. 19, 20 were clean. Picked a way through the carpark for athletes to get to the last control (maybe not the best place to have loads of cars parked). 21 was easy and in just behind the estonian guy.

Best of the Irish again, so a successful trip to EOC with two good solid sprint races which was the main target here.
