Morning Ski. Tracks had frozen overnight and the freestyle area wasnt as bad as yesterday. Found out just how frozen the traditional tracks were on the first downhill where it was really fast, but i did make the corner despite this! Just did some laps of the biathlon area, ~1.4km laps.

Now to get ready to go see Nordic World Champs Friday Night Fever in Lahti. Starting off with the 4*10km mens CC relay, then the NC Team Sprint HS130 and finishes with the NC Team Sprint 2*7.5km relay. The final race sounds cool, the Ski jumping decides how far behind the leaders you start and then its 1.5km legs followed by changeover. so lots of changeovers. Will report later!

Note

World Champs were awesome. Really exciting relay right to the last corner. The ski jumping was amazing to see, i didnt realise quite how steep the hill they land on is. Then the final race was chaos and confusing but so cool. The German completed the clean sweep winning gold in all the NC events! You can never write them off, and I bet he knows how to take a good penalty too!

Couple of cm of snow fell overnight so the freestyle tracks were soft and deep, opted to just go classic for the day. No wax on the ski's and freestyle poles didnt hold me back! Tough going especially on all the "short" and "sharp" climbs. descents werent too fast since it was a bit slushy. When I came through the Biathlon ranges first loop there was a lady standing around and on my second passing I stopped to watch, she hit 5/5 in the standing shoot!

Like yesterday despite not covering that much distance over the time at least the heart rate stayed in a reasonable bracket for the whole thing.

To finish I went off the trails and through some deepish snow to get down to the road. First person to go this way since there were no tracks!

Not convinced by the garmin climb, may have to get out the lattukartta for Ämmäntöyräs later and do a count but now to go shovel some snow out of the driveway

Snow shoveling to clear the driveway, infront of the garage and the paths to the wood stores!

It counts right?

Heavy going. Temperatures above 0 so very slushy and wet in places where it was flat but the hills were really icy. Was slow on the steep climbs but worked on my snow plough on the descents. Started slow trying to remember how to do it. Then had a few stops to fix the boots and fix layers, ended up taking off gloves and buff since it was too warm. Good fun trying to learn my way around. Nice way to start a very Finnish day!

Following my skiing with the Nordic Champs on YLE, lighting the fire, sauna maybe, mapping.....all in knitted socks obviously!!

Note

What a ski by Niskanen in the classic 15km. And a top50 for Ireland!
