Cayuga 50 miler race 11:37:36 [4] 50.0 mi (13:57 / mi)
Out and back twice!
-very scenic course with waterfalls and tons of stairs to climb.
a few stream crossing-some came up to mid thighs.
-One very muddy section for about 3 miles, very steep climbs and descents, and 3 or 4 aid stations
-I could handle GUs for about 2 hours before switching to solid foods. I ate peanut butter cookies, carrot cake (without frosting), PBJs, ginger snaps, and salty potatoes. Also carried a baggie to stash foof for later.
-consumed only water with one SUCCEED! tablet and hour, since it was only in the 60s
- By mile 28 I took 3 ibuprophin.
- Despite being tired, sore, trying to keep a postive focus, I didn't bonk or nauseous.
Next day: Able to walk down the stairs, looking to find my mental anchor when running VT100. I have completed three 100s and knowing I am not as trained as I was last year, it is hard to settle just to finish! I also lost my pacer so I need to find another for the last 30 miles. No biggy, I can add my name to the pacer wanted list on VT100 site.
That was my 10th 50 miler finish to date!!
