Orienteering race 1:07:27 [4] **** 9.4 km (7:11 / km) +282m 6:14 / km
I had a solid technical race though I there is major room for improvement. The whole weekend I felt that I could use a nice dose of confidence to run fast when I was alone in the woods. This likely exists from my divorce from the sport (competitively for several years) and a definite lack of training both physically, technically, and mentally. That said I felt very calm and more mature wrt control over my emotions and excitement.
Errors
Control 4 (lost : did not look at leg before I ran it, did not have an explicit plan, parallel error, need to trust compass more, and I needed to simplify.
Control 6: too hesitant coming into the control -- Need a specific plan before I start the next control.
Control 10: Need specific plan.
Control 11: too hesitant due to a lack of plan with specific point where I can know my location for certain.
Control 16: too hesitant through the green... largely due to the lack of a specific plan.
Control 17: Distracted by another, faster, runner and did not have a detailed plan.
Take away: Need to make plan for the next leg while running to the control before that leg. I need to improve my fitness overall. I need to spend more time on maps.
