Orienteering 55:21 [4] *** 3.9 km (14:12 / km)
spiked:9/11c shoes: Inov8-MudrockIII

Just coming off being sick, I didn't want to relapse and so I decided to run Brown. It was a good decision. Ben and Stephanie set a really wonderful, but dificult brown, and I definitely got as much exertion as I needed. The park was very runnable, the map was excellent, and the weather was great.

Ran clean except for a big screw-up on 3 (veered left, saw a beginner control in the distance and ran for it, then found out that it wasn't mine and had to backtrack to mine) and a small screw-up on 10 (veered left, overshot, and had to attack from the trail).

But after reviewing my course, I'm pretty sure that I can add a couple more route choice mistakes to my list: (a) attacking 4 from the saddle instead of going around the hill, and (b) using trails too much from 5-6. I regard the post-race regret over route choices as the sign of a well-designed course. Nice job, Ben & Stephanie.

Got a few advanced controls north of the road. This is a pretty nice park.

Slowly field checking Western Woods -- the perfect way to spend a drab Saturday afternoon while getting over being sick.
