Orienteering 1:03:11 [3] 5.0 km (12:38 / km)
shoes: Inov8-MudrockIII

OCIN Diamond Oaks, Veterans Park, Green course. A sprint-like 5k course, required a lot of attention and rapid decision making, took runners to pretty much every corner of this small park. Thoroughly enjoyable except for the honeysuckle which, after getting used to Umstead, seems all the more annoying. My navigation was very solid, though my legs were a little dead.

Orienteering 5:48:00 intensity: (1:30:00 @1) + (2:00:00 @2) + (2:00:00 @3) + (18:00 @4) 12.0 mi (29:00 / mi)
shoes: MudRock IV

NSF's Cabin Fever 6 hour score-O. An exceptionally well-planned course that resisted all attempts to plan a logical route among controls. I went out planning to skip 5 controls, and ended up skipping them and 3 more due to lack of time. Conditions were pretty brutal. The temperature was tolerable (probably in the upper teens), but the terrain was very steep and slick. Worst, a 2 inch coat of snow covered all of the crap that I would usually try not to step on. I made essentially no navigational errors, and my calf didn't act up too badly. So all in all it was a great day. The only way for it to be much better would be for me to be in better shape.

Trail running 48:00 intensity: (25:00 @2) + (23:00 @4) 5.0 mi (9:36 / mi)
shoes: MudRock IV

Jogging out to the far control sites. It was actually easier to park on the south side of the park and run up to them, even though the start for the meet is in the north section. The calf let me know that it was there, but generally felt pretty good.

I'm disappointed that I'll probably have to split-up the first leg of my red course, which was to have been an epic 2 miles long.

Checking the last three advanced control sites. Had to move each one of them to a slightly better nearby location.
