Trail Running 1:40:00 [3]
shoes: BC

Out for dinner, so just enough time to fit in a quick run in Crowther. Nice weather - shorts, t-shirt and arm sleeves. Got very cold at the end, though, when the sun disappeared.

Easy run after Kieran's b-day party at the in-laws. Down Vic Park, along Taylor Creek to home and then back.

Easy night run. After a few weeks of running on a regular basis, I'm starting to feel stronger on my runs. Very encouraging.

Dug my Garmin out of the closet to see how slow I've gotten over the past year since returning to Canada. Ran the first 8 K at a steady pace (not an all out effort, but certainly not the lackadaisical pace I've been jogging lately). Didn't follow a flat route, and had a fairly steady climb at the 4 K mark for about 600 metres. Finished at 35:31, which is roughly a 4:26/km pace. So, not too fast. I could have pushed faster, but wanted to keep at a comfortable pace. I felt pretty good with this pace once I got past the first K and settled into it. I think some of my slowness comes down to mental toughness. It's so easy just to relax and saunter along. At any rate, I plan to keep working at my speed and see if I can improve on it.

After the first 8 K, I jogged an easy 800 metres and then did six long hill repeats. I felt really good at the end.

Night run 2.5 x around Crother. Really enjoying running with a headlamp. Glad that I'm not stuck on roads for all of my evening runs. After a lazy year, I feel like I'm starting to get into better shape. I wouldn't say that my speed is great, but I'm feeling stronger on hills and longer runs. The Cascadias felt big and clunky tonight. Perhaps I laced them too loose as my feet were sliding around in them.
