shoes: Black100

Easy run in the afternoon. Tired.

Trail Running 2:20:00 [3]
shoes: CL

Easy run in the rain. Knew it would be slippery, so wore the mud-killers. Feeling tired today, so decided to cut the run short. No rush yet to re-incorporate the long runs.

Road Running 45:00 [3]
shoes: BL Black

Definitely feeling the effects from yesterday. Loosened up after 15 mins, but a pretty slow day.

Trail Running (Hills) 2:24:00 [3]
shoes: BL Orange

40 min steady
1 hour continuous hill repeats
25 min tempo (just sort of happened)
19 min recovery

Felt great on the hill repeats. Actually got faster during the second half hour. Finally starting to figure out downhills, allowing myself to float down without jamming on the breaks or getting out of control. Feeling very strong right now.

This will be one of two key weekly workouts. Will gradually extend the amount of time spent on the hill repeats as the weeks progress.

(rest day)

Well, at least no one can accuse me of rushing back into training.

Trail Running (Tempo) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Black100

Only had an hour to run today, so decided to make the most of it. Steady 20 mins at first (got very close to some deer grazing in high grass) and then did a 20-min tempo run on rolling hills. I was flying and felt great. I love running with these shoes as you're low to the ground and can be nimble and quick along technical sections. After the tempo, took another 20 mins easy.

Mtn bikers were out on the trails en masse this evening. After stepping out of the way of one rider, I started back on the trail and then he braked suddenly and lifted his back wheel up into the air, scraping the skin off the inside of my left quad and hitting my groin area. Needless to say, I was not in any condition to run too fast after that.
