Riding (show jump lesson) 1:00:00 [3]

Lesson out at kirstens. Was a really good lesson. Caught her up on everythign weve been doing and she was totally confident id be able to do the 2**s at the end of the year if all goes to plan before that so that was a good confidence booster for me! DId some good flatwork to warm up, just need to remember to keep my chin up, and i still need to work on my transitions between all paces they werent very good today. canter was good warming up. kirsten had a grid set up (rail, cross, 1stride/rail, vertical 1 stride oxer) so started on that and had the planks roll back to a vertical, and a double coming 2 strides off the railing on teh other side of the arena. Bozo bit quiet today wasnt really taking me to the jumps, but he was still junmping well. then kirst made the oxer at the end ofthe grid wider and that last stride shorter, boz quiet going thru it and ducked out before the oxer, and dumped me on the ground!!!!! decided id giv him a whack on take off next time so this time came in with a better trot. wasnt quite sharp over the vertical so i whacked him there instead but he still managed to dump me, this time landing hard flat on my back and im soooooooo sooooooooo sore!!!! gave him a good beating and raarked him up a bit so then he was all firing and after that i had my normal pony back, taking me to the jumps and very sharp with knees in front!! so overall, great lesson just required a bit of physical abuse to rider then horse to get us sorted!! will be a few days til my backs not sore i imagine...eek

Was going to do the fundraising zoo orienteering race this evening, but since parting company with the beast, im in no shape for running today so had to pull out of that one unfortunately. felt bad for letting dad down but seriously im in pain from my stupid naughty beast! just have to get better before the weekend!

Riding (beach) 1:30:00 [3]

went down to clifton loop today, parked the float in the carpark on porterfield drive. hacked along the road from porterfield to the beach part halfway round the loop. just stretched and trotted this part. The tide was in so went on the far side of beach i dont normally go on. just worked in a small 20 x 50 area and did lots of canter work - simple changes and counter canter. Bozo was good, i was riding well. Didnt do much lateral work today but the trot got way better after my canter. was impressed with bozos canter hope it can go like this in my test at the weekend. Rode back along road, got a pleasant suprise when jacob drove by and stopped for a chat! Made my ride a trillion times cooler! (oh and did i mention it rained most of my ride, grrr summer come back!!)

Riding (cross country schooling) 1:00:00 [3]

Picked up Bozo today and had a cross country jump school at Hunua. Bozo looks in great condition and was jumping really well. Did all the hard jumps Ang told me to do, no prob first time, and then refined my ride a few more times on some combinations. Did some really good work doing combinations with tight twisty corners eg gallop up hill to the flyer then 3 strides to a chevron then 4 curving strides to a house rolltop roll back turn to the intermediate brush down the hill and half 20m back up hill to chvevron, 4 strides back to chevron and then down flyer. Was really good practise to get my eye in, just need to practise my canter now, trans into and back from galloping and practise looking early to the next jump to be effficient in my line. all in all a great day back riding!!!! :)
