Trainer 45:00 [2]

Got re-acquainted with the trainer again.

Saturday Nov 28, 2009 #

Running 40:00 [2] 4.25 km (9:25 / km)

Ran with the dog. Did some hill work and experimented with technique.

Running 1:50:00 [3] 9.0 km (12:13 / km)

Took Friday off... well, took the afternoon off because I'm so effing important that I need to be at the plant for the full morning of an effing vacation day. Hit up Crowbar Lake with the hound.

He yelped louder than I've ever heard him yelp at the beginning... I was worried so we went slow at first. He was running great though, so he must have just squished his balls or something. He does that on occasion.

Sick? Injured? On a regular day I'm probably both... but compared to the last few weeks I'm tip top.

1 hr 50 min is a nice benchmark for the loop! It'll be easy to beat since it was wet and slippery, I went slow for the first 20 min or so for the dog, we stopped to take some pictures and I had to answer a few work calls.

Note
(rest day)

Son of a....

It's Thursday and I haven't done shizzle since Sunday. Maybe I needed a few days, though it's not like I've had a busy training year. Hosted too many races maybe? Still, all setup for a heavyweight brick tomorrow, I just have to collect a buoy down in Lunenberg first thing in the morning and then I'm off.

Depending on what time I'm back from the buoy rescue mission, I'll do the rail trail to the Musquodobit trails for a run or the roads to the Crowbar trails. Either way I'll have some fun. Sounds like I'm going solo.

Trekking 2:30:00 [2] 8.0 km (18:45 / km)
(injured)

Trekked with the E-Rukkus. Collected orienteering controls at Crow Bar Lake from 'Storm the Beach.' One was missing. Damn.

Cut up leg felt good.

Cyclocross 1:00:00 [1] 5.0 mi (12:00 / mi)
(injured)

Towed Bo around taking pictures of the gang doing the Warm up to Winter Sprinter. Bo fell asleep after a while.

MTB 2:30:00 [2] 15.0 km (10:00 / km)

Setting up for the 'Warm up to Winter Sprinter'. Had a wicked crash, made a nice hole in my leg, bleed for three days... should have gone to the hospital. Tried to fix it with crazy glue. It's not infected yet.

Trekking 11:05:00 [5] 51.0 km (13:02 / km)

Did the annual Cape Chignecto trip. Our goal was to be sub 10 hrs, but about halfway through my foot broke through a bridge and I hyper-extended my knee. Nothing serious, and on any other workout it would have been a minor nuisance at most. Unfortunately Cape Chignecto is one of Nova Scotia's most difficult technical trails and has extreme ascents and descents. While the pain was manageable on the uphills, any / all of the downhills were excruciating. Dealing with that quickly put me in bonk town for the last two hours. We were on pace to beat 10 hrs too! The good news is that the ankle held up well, and although it's not 100% it's nothing to be considered an injury anymore.

I'll get some elevation gain data and pictures added soon.

Note
(injured) (sick) (rest day)

Got a bunch of vaccines today, wife has H1N1, boy had a bunch of vaccines too AND the dog is hurt. I think it might be a rest day.

Monday Nov 9, 2009 #

Running 30:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)
(injured) (sick)

Took the boy and dog for a run. Madmartigan was limping badly, when an Irish Wolfhound limps it's because the pain is excruciating. We cut the workout short and went home to lick our wounds.

Ankle is at 80%, as long as everything goes well it's great. I suspect it's still laterally weak though and susceptible to another sprain.

Note
(injured) (sick)

Had to skip a cyclocross race because I was quite congested. It was annoying! (Also missed a MTB Committee meeting.) Fortunately I don't think it's the H1N1 which is a bright spot on the situation.

Running 1:20:00 [3] 9.0 km (8:53 / km)
(injured)

Solid run with E-Rock, Kootenay, Madmartigan and Bo... at Shubie Park. Ankle felt great! 75% at least.

Thursday Nov 5, 2009 #

Running 50:00 [3] 6.5 km (7:42 / km)
(injured)

Run on the Trans Canada Trail with boy and dog while wife got groceries. Got shot at three times. Called RCMP. Ain't no thang.

Tuesday Nov 3, 2009 #

Running 50:00 [3] 6.5 km (7:42 / km)
(injured)

Solid run with boy and dog. I put my nightrider blowtorch on the handlebar of the chariot which helped me see much better than a headlamp so I didn't stumble at all. The ankle felt strong too, at least 50%.

Sunday Nov 1, 2009 #

Cyclocross 30:00 [3]
(injured)

Thought there was a race, but there wasn't! Did a few laps of last week's course and went home as the ankle felt very weak.
