Trekking 2:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (24:00 / km)

I think it was on 12/27/2009!

Did some tracking work with a search dog... basically my son and I got lost! Used the iPhone to entertain him while we holed up in the bush and Heidi (a little German shephard that belongs to my sister and BIL) found us... it was kind of neat! I'm looking forward to trying to trick Heidi next time!

Shoveling Driveway 30:00 [3]

Guess what? I got to shovel the driveway again this morning! The same stuff I shoveled the night before. The only saving grace is that it's a decent workout.

Note

Got the call at noon that the boy was barfing at the sitters. Spent the afternoon with him in bed with a bucket ready while he slept. He did great until we went to get Snooch where he barfed all over himself in the car. Poor little guy. We got him home and cleaned up and he woke every hour or so through the night to throw up. I stayed with him and marveled at his attitude. He'd be barely done barfing when he'd be telling me he's okay. Tough little bugger.

MTB 1:40:00 [3]

HERO DIRT! Tore up Spider Lake. Rode every trail until my freehub blew up. Had to walk out, but still couldn't stop smiling. So so so awesome. Take that California!

Shoveling Driveway 40:00 [3]

Yes it is a workout. Wore the HRM once last year on a hefty day and burned 800 cal! Typical burn is 400 - 500 cal.

Hockey 1:00:00 [3]

League game. My son came to watch with Snooch which was fun. He seemed to enjoy himself. He got to see his dad take two penalties... not bad ones though. One I was making a nice rush for a decent scoring opportunity when I was hauled down. Unfortunately my stick swung up and hit someone. Not a call that's usually made but I suppose it can technically be considered an infraction. The second penalty I was in front of the net and the defenseman knocked me into their goalie. Both penalties were coincidental. Otherwise we tied 4-4, unfortunately I was on for three goals, one of which was short handed. Not bad turnovers or anything, just bad luck I guess. Blocked a shot with my foot and know I've got a purple toe.

Hockey 1:00:00 [3]

Nice goal on a snipe form the point. (Played defense.) Had a three or four nice assists too... just pickup hockey though. Got a decent skate in.

Note

Today is Whopper Wednesday. That means I can go to Burger King and buy a bunch of Whoppers for something like $1.50 ea. In rare form, I drove right by BK to the Japan Deli and got me some power food... Spicy Sushi. I hope to wreck some shit up tonight... maybe a brick with a dog run followed by a trainer session? It's been too warm the last couple of days for a MTB ride... too warm in that the ground will be soft. But this weekend should be nice and cold so that I can ride some hero dirt... can't wait! I don't remember the last time I rode singletrack.

I got some new tights in the mail yesterday from China via e-bay. They cost me $9 or something. They were supposed to be compression tights, but the don't compress shit. But, they are surprisingly good for only $9. Unfortunately they are see through like a screen door. If I stuffed one down my pants, you could read a book through these. Not that she needed to, but Snooch forbid me to EVER wear them without drawers on. The good news is that they sell $9 shorts too. Hopefully two layers of the stuff will keep the junk behind a decent layer of lycra.

Trainer 47:00 [3]

Short one. Watched the end of Fringe with Snooch... don't really care about that crazy assed show anymore because it's clear that the writers are making it up as they go. Then watched the Cleveland Show. Got a couple of good laughs out of that.

Only 47 min... ended up doing more chores this evening that I had planned... and dealt with a volatile child.

Trainer 1:36:00 [3]

Watched Dexter, Simpsons and Family guy. I need to get the right kind of deodorant not that crap Snooch accidentally bought me... my pits stank before I even finished warming up.

Note

About to go out to the company Christmas lunch. I will not drink a lot of beer, nor will I pig out. Instead I'll have a light lunch, take a run through Shubie Park and then have the beer and a pig out party with the boys TONIGHT.

The boys are my 2 y/o son and his 5 and 2 y/o cousins. Bo likes to drink the beer with me, but his cousins don't like it. Tonight could be interesting because the 5 y/o will figure out that his father and I have been tricking him all week by telling him I kicked my son out for continuously waking up too early. Luke, the 5 y/o, actually called my cell phone yesterday morning to say Bo could come live with them. Luke's father and I both realized that this was probably a poor joke considering Luke goes to school now and will likely tell someone. We're expecting a phone call.

Note

I accidentally ate two huge plates of spaghetti, drank six beer and fell asleep reading the third Twilight book. What I meant to do was a brick.

Trainer 1:06:00 [3]

Decent trainer session. Watched a bit of the Leafs game, and re-watched last week's Glee with Snooch. I still enjoy the musical numbers the second time around! Brought myself down with a beer afterward so that I could actually get myself to sleep at a decent hour.

Had Sushi for lunch yesterday and I'll be damned if it doesn't make me feel good the rest of the afternoon / evening. I should eat that stuff more.

Note

Oh glorious snow! We got smoked with white gold last night, it was awesome! The perfect stuff for cross-country skiing too. Now guess what? It's already 5 deg today, going up to 9 deg. Now all I have is effing slush.

Running 41:00 [3] 6.5 km (6:18 / km)

Run with E-Rukkus, Kootenay, Madmartigan and Bo. Bo laughed his ass off at the dogs running, then he cried a bit because he wasn't satisfied with the lighting systems I gave him. Then he fell asleep. Both E-Rukkus and I had a bad day, so we vented with one another while we ran... it was hard talking that much while running!

Running 1:35:00 [3] 9.5 km (10:00 / km)

New PB for the Crowbar route! 1 h 35 min. There was an intense river crossing that had my dog adrift on a 3' x 4' piece of floating bridge for a while too... that took a cold and wet rescue mission. Unfortunately a significant portion of the last 2.5 km was underwater too that subtracted from the time. Lastly, ah wuz teh dumb and forgot a light so I had to finish in the dark. Still, felt great! Can't wait to beat that PB... almost makes me wish the snow would hold off!

Running 50:00 [3] 7.5 km (6:40 / km)

Had a decent run with Madmartigan from the in-law's house, through Porter's Lake Provincial Park and then back again.

Note
(rest day)

I've been falling asleep in the evenings while doing dangerous things like cleaning our guillotine, brushing the bear's teeth and cross-bow calibration. I figured that maybe I'd enjoy a martini with the wife after we knocked the boy unconscious. We enjoyed Californication and then I fell asleep shortly after 9:00 p.m. while attempting to watch another show that's not really of any interest to me.

Feel good this morning (12/4/09) and really hoping I can get in at least a couple of hours of vacation that I was supposed to take so I can do a decent run, but it's not looking good.

Trainer 1:18:00 [2]

Watched me some House and Glee. Not bad TV for training, but not great. Made some ginger bread men before the trainer session. The look like a bunch of mutants. The right calf had some strange cramp like episodes, but I'm well hydrated and full to the tits with electrolytes. Very strange. Leftover from that bike crash that left me with the cut? Maybe some strange infection? Not likely as it's looking and feeling (otherwise) quite good. The thought that I was actually shot occurred again and that it's a bullet fragment in there wreaking havoc... dunno though, that's an albino red herring if you ask me.

Glad I got the session in, I've got some mutant ginger bread men to tear up.

Note

Seriously, what the Hell do I have to do to get motivated to clean my damn garage and get at that weight set? I don't have a lot of time, that's for sure, but it would only take a few hours! Plus the snow is coming which means the garage is going to flood again and all the shit that's on the floor will get wrecked if I don't clean it up. Get your ass in gear man! You're going to Mexico in five months and you got to get that prison sculpted bod back! Your homemade tats and knife fight scars are mad that you're not doing them justice.

In the meantime get a deck of cards and do some damn push ups and sit ups... it was nearly eight years ago that you wrecked that wrist, it's mostly good now, you're just heavier than you used to be. Push ups fool push ups!

Running 30:00 [2] 4.25 km (7:04 / km)

Quick one with the dog so he wouldn't freak out while I did a trainer session for an evening brick.

Trainer 1:02:00 [2]

Watched Dexter while I trained to complete the brick.

I almost went to bed at 8:00 p.m. tonight without a workout, but I'm happy to report I cowboy'd up and did this thang.
