Note

The Lowery Memorial Shuttle Run was a blast. The concept is my brain child, but NSAR added checkpoints along the way to keep us on the maps and to add some difficulty. There were some new faces there and everyone seemed to have a great time.

I had a decent enough day with few blunders hardly worth mentioning. I did misunderstand the rules though, and collected three checkpoints that weren't counted. I'm quite sure I could have slipped in a sixth lap if I did things properly. I finished in 6th. If I didn't do that extra work, I might have been in contention for 2nd... but I think some of the other guys made similar blunders so maybe not. Who knows, speculation on such things is always fun.

The highlight of the day was a bushwhack up a steep slope some 300 m round trip... in my bare feet. Tough-guy points right there.

Trekking 20:00 [1]
weight:245.5lbs

'Round the hood with Bo. He wasn't down for a run in the chariot like we agreed so this was it.

Strength 10:00 [3]
weight:245.5lbs

60 pushups

Yoga 25:00 [3]
weight:245.5lbs

Pilates actually... which had me feeling like I should be wearing leg warmers and calling out my numbers. Not for me. I think I'd like a combo of yoga and pilates. I found about three yoga videos that I started and each one was at least 10 minutes before the even did anything!

Trekking 45:00 [1]

Trail running with Bo on his REAL third birthday.

Here's a vid.

The left him shirtless with a map and compass to find his way home. Oh yes I did. He was moving well and seemed to appreciate that 'Crocodile Lake' was fictitious, or at least only seen in / on Diego so I don't expect that to confuse him any more. He'll be moving westerly along more or less the same route that took many teams in excess of four hours at last years Storm the Beach adventure race. Then he'll just have to hump it back up the Old No. 7 home. I suspect we'll see him just in time to get him changed and ready for day care. Happy birthday kid.
