Note

Fleeing from the bad weather. While we had good weather during the orienteering the weather forcast was not good enough for climbing down here in the Provence.
We hoped to find better weather further north on the way back home. Also there we were unlucky and decided to head to Switzerland and try to find a spot where the Föhn would allow us to climb.

3-days of Provence - 3rd stage - HE - Auriol et Mourmoumiou Barbetane
Eeek, mostly green, ugly stuff, the most fun was the ski-o parts with "mowed" parts through the woods. The map was the same quality as the terrain...
After loosing already almost 15' until the 3rd control I decided to finish the course more or less jogging.

3days of Provence - Avignon Intra Muros - HE
Wow, fun! This is a serious alternative to Venice! Nice, tricky urban o-ing in the middle of Avignon.
I made one wrong routechoice up to the castle plus messed up the first control because I didn't see that the building was not crossable. Otherwise fine, just to slow ;-).

Uff, just too long for me. Ok for about 1h15' but afterwards it was getting tough..
Ok terrain but quite green in some parts, detours paid out sometimes.
TG with 1:09..

Orienteering race 52:00 [4] 6.0 km (8:40 / km)
shoes: VJ Integrator 11

Championat Nationale d'Equipe, a seven man relay. We were only six (Andi M, Daniele, mikee, renni, Seline, kats) but luckily a world champ accompained her boyfriend and enforced our team...
Start was at 5:30 so the first two legs were still at night.
Andi came made a couple mistakes but came back fifth with only little time behind the second. Daniele managed to come back in third position right behind the second. I went out afterwards but could not keep up with this guy. Luckily he made several mistakes and I could catch up each time. After a good race I got caught by two other runners but because we had passed the first runner we were still in fourth position.
The following four whomen only lost little (in a mens race!) and we finished just within the top ten.

Orienteering 19:00 [4] 3.5 km (5:26 / km) +50m 5:04 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 12

Sprint @ Chateaurenard (F) , First stage open (M21).
Nice terrain, mixed in a tricky forest with hills, rocks and cliffs and a sports complex. Best sprint in non-urban terrain I ever did.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 12

For both runs.
8 PM

Orienteering race 22:00 [4] 3.5 km (6:17 / km) +100m 5:30 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 12

Second Sprint @ Chateaurenard. Also this was fun, once we got going...
The open classes (all except Wlite and Juniors) were running after the elite had finished, thus staring at 7pm (so it was a night sprint). When we came to the start, it was announced that the start was delayed by an unknown time, at least 15' bacause the startlist was missing.. After 45' they opend the start but with new start times (which had nothing to do with your previous ones). But nobody knew their start time and there was only one list posted with the runners (a fwe houndreds..) sorted by starttime only... Naturally it was a big mess and after a fwe minuets they started to let people just start (10 every half a minute). Me and Seline decided to go for an extra warm up to skip the crowd but when we came back it was still a long queue. We could sneak in and just start and the fun began...
First part on a hill with an old castle, then we chanfed to the medevial city with tricky passages and many traps (one french decided that he prefers swiming to making a detour...). I had a decent run but was moving carefully in particular in the first paet (night, headlamp and road shoes). As I said in the beginning, a lot of fun once you got started..
