great sleep... passed. was smashed... in a good way last night. been a while since i've felt like that. hope pass today and then heading home.

hope pass with maggie to close out our weekend. I was basically dropped as soon as it got steep. she split a 1:05 on the climbing segment (3.9 miles, 3225 ft of climbing) got the CR and is 6th overall on it including dudes like krar and canaday. ..and I went up in 1:17... just cruising and having fun. love that run. solid coming down too. quads finally feeling good descending. promising.

decent sleep in Leadville... tossing and turning as usual the first night at 10k.

Another solid day. We parked in Twin Lakes and headed up Columbine. great climb. only really steep the last mile or so. I was surprised how fast I went up compared to others on the segment that did it during the race. I stopped to take photos a few times and was only ~5 of their splits. Good sign. It will a good part of the race for me if feeling good.

descended back to the car to refill and then another out and back on the course heading north from twin lakes. nothing special there. a lot of fireroad, road, and the only single track on the course. felt good all day.

after refueling with some killer breakfast burritos and cold brew we hit powerlines again... this time running for me. actually felt really good and just taking it easy. Maggie crushed it and dropped me about half way up. so fun to be out on the trails with her.

Leadville Recon Day 1. Powerlines. Maggie ran and I rode. Thunderstorms rolling as we rolled out. rode the whole climb. there is only one really steep section and one tricky line on it. my 32x42 was totally maxed out. Going to tough on race day 75+ miles in. Ordered a Wolf Tooth 44t ring. Should help for sure.

got to the top and the thunder was getting gnarly and then it started hailing. descended sugarloaf/hagerman's in a full on down pour and crazy wind. Blew over by the time I got to turquoise lake. Back up and over and the hard part of power lines one more time.
