Running 22:00 [1] 4.0 km (5:30 / km)
weight:84.2kg shoes: Gel 1000s Blue-ish

Jogged to physio and back. FASIC re achilles. ("Have you been here before.... well, on and off for a decade....", "How old is the injury.... since intervals one day in February 1997"). Physio noted that achilles tendonitis can be degenerative (e.g. due to age) and reactionary (to overdoing it), she thought probably a bit of degeneration with reactionary on top. Hip and ankles stiff, lower back stiff, heel drop strength fine, flexibility OKish, main issue she focussed on though is calf strength standing on tiptoes - I appeared to have poor endurance when right up on calves. Exercises to fix that. Some work on left calf which did make it feel a lot better afterwards.

That does make sense, my achilles have been OK at the beginning of runs but get worse as I get tired. And I can barely do a calf raise after a long run. So focus on calf raises as high as I can go and standing with heel just off the ground, it's a tendon, progress will be gradual. Go to a podiatrist. Get sports massages. Wear heel raises in shoes.

Conditioning-shmitioning, it really does seem to be that I do need to actually do this and the older I get the more I'll need to.
