British O Champs, M45L. Kilnsey. 16/29 +29.6% (won by RogerG). Third time I have ran here. Started sluggish, and lots of climb early on which is never my strong point, but I felt like I was running well in the second half so surprised to be so far down.

Lost about 45" at 9 confidently running past first reentrant to the second, only to find the control was in the first, and I had several pauses/small misses in the control circle. I did some stand still compass bearings which probably wasted time but I usually find them helpful in the open, especially when going downhill, as you can then really run hard. Really enjoyed the runnable terrain, this sport is so much fun when you can actually move over the ground and follow the map. Well, I fell badly once at speed but had just enough arm strength to avoid head-butting limestone pavement.

Bit disappointed the distance was short though, I don't know if this is going to be normal for vet courses going forwards, hope not, It was 2/3 the length of M40L which was combined with W21E and so probably had some route choice and stuff which we didn't get.
