Happy to get a good fairly steady 10 mile run in without injury problems. In the winter the WoL path always seems colder than the canal but that was a good thing in today's heat. Currie Kirk bridge and back, speeding up on way back, only just starting to lose it at the end. Left knee started to hurt a couple of k into the downhill return trip but thankfully settled.

Good week, 41 miles, decent speed session, decent long run.

Sprint Scotland, Bo'ness. +45%. Thought it would be fun to do the open course and it was certainly a good course. First starter and was trying to hold off the second starter but took wrong route 10-11 (went slightly south then west to the path at the end of the fence then into control from above) and was suddenly behind him. Actually looking at routes now 7-8 was wrong too didn't spot way through fence just W of control.

Sprint Scotland race 2. Open, +43%. Enjoyed this and it looks like it was more interesting than the vets course.Thought I was running fairly well but 38/41 rather than 32/38 this morning so I guess I'm not and I did a bit better in the more technical morning race.

Heavy morning weigh in after a couple of days of mostly eating. Started off running with StuW plus JamRo, MickeyG turned up too. When they needed a fourth name for the first team I agreed I would beat Neil T so pressure was on when he started in front. Felt quite good, although lack of long runs caused me to get tired a bit earlier than I would hope. Happy to still be moving OK on the run Blackford to AS but it was more like 5 min/k rather than actually fast and Neil, who I had got ahead of, overtook me going up gutted haddie. As soon as I started heading down from AS my left knee started hurting strongly, typically runner's knee feeling, and I ended up jogging down to protect it losing a few minutes.

TT was 'undulating' rather than hill reps said Jill. Apart from the hill the ground was indeed not too steep. 10 x 90". Ran surprisingly well, 3rd on some of the reps, with GK and Longshorts running away until I got tired and started dropping back when running in the uphill direction. Perhaps others were tired from Red Moss but this was a bit of a morale boost.

Yetholm hill race. Haven't done this race before, really enjoyed it, quite runnable terrain, good length. Warm-by-Scottish-hills standards wind. Was running just behind a group of a few people (and just behind Neil T who I would expect to beat on the flat), on every hill I would lose a minute, then I would gain it back, then there was the large hill at the far end and I lost two minutes and I never quite got it back. Strength to weight ratio really a problem on the steep hills but otherwise I am feeling fitter. 30 mins behind leaders (PeteG was second in just over 70).
