Run on the treadmill at the gym - wasn't my originally intended plan - but unlike on the rowing machine I could watch the athletics. My achilles tendons started to hurt as usual so I tried picking my knees up fast each stride. This seemed quite a lot better for my achilles tendons than my usual road runner's skimming millimeters above the ground running style. I've tried this before (running picking feet up fast so my achilles tendons aren't doing all the work) but perhaps as I've been working on knee lift recently I managed it better this time? I'll try this again.

Arthur's Seat - started off with my dad running round the perimeter then went off by myself to get some terrain running. 20 mins running in the deep grass on Salisbury Crags until went over on ankle trying to run straight down while concentrating on knee lift, then over to Whinny Hill.

Left work too late for planned terrain run so thought I'd try a medium paced road/Inverleith Park run to see how my achilles tendonitis copes with hard surfaces these days. OK to start with but familiar achilles pain came on after 15-20 mins. I shouldn't have any ill effects from doing this once but am some way from being able to do this regularly. Although this was probably better than a few months ago. And my flat running speed was better than a few months ago. Didn't wear orthotics. Probably should have.

So, back to usual training. Hopefully enough calf strength will sort this eventually...

Flotterstone > Scald Law and back. Left achilles fairly sore for second half but feels fine afterwards.

Orienteering 48:30 [3]

Blairadam Forest. There were only courses up to orange so took 'training route' around the orange course avoiding paths, going straight or detouring through interesting looking bits of forest, concentrating on longish rough bearings. It was a MTBO map so not much detail to navigate by but good terrain run.
