Met up with Stuart M and family and did meadows mile with our eldest children scoring 4 GP points. They seemed of equal fitness and tendency to randomly sprint until out of breath!!

For the HBT Grand Prix and HBT 40th birthday a dozen or so of us ran the route of the 1995 WMRA world champs/cup on Arthur’s Seat. This was brutal and I rapidly end up running by myself although I got some good long distance photos of other participants. This is a brilliant route although one would have to be very fit to actually enjoy it!

Pentland 7Reservoirs Race route for HBT Grand Prix with Dave F, Cat B and Graeme K. An excellent thing about HBT is chatty long runs with varied groups of people and I enjoyed myself until I was getting tired going up from Glencorse, by Bonaly I was tired and a couple of k later I was struggling and told the others to go on without me (which they appear to have then done quickly to get out of the rain). Dry start but detiorsted and really quite wet by end. Fun in retrospect would have enjoyed more if fresh but this is longest week since 2015 so I had known I would get tired!

Set off for long run but very tired from the start so just jogged around for a bit.

This week was mean to be a 45miles/72.5k hard week but was instead a total fail, partly due to school start messing up a couple of days but finished with being too tired to run properly today.

I had two quite good long runs recently. One was after two days off. The other, 1 August, was after training steadily all week, a longer run on Tuesday but 10k on each of Wed/Thu/Fri and then running before dinner on Saturday. Hmmm.

GP continues - Rigg Race route with Huw and DaveW. We ran together and luckily Dave is most FDC atm so I was not the rate limiting factor. Really enjoyed running along chatting at a decent pace and feeling more like a road runner again - although 7 min slower than either time I’ve done the real race so shouldn’t feel too good!

Grand Prix, various trotters did the Allermuir Gallop route in two waves. This is quicker than I was last year although 4 mins off PB. Wasn't trying 100% but couldn't quite keep up behind DanC and MeganW, and just ahead of alarmingly fast young microtrots. Jane and the boys walked up and spectated.

Long run just before tea - surprised to feel really good. Training works! Slowed down in places by pausing to have a mini go at turfgame, was more productive once I had worked out you could just stay in a zone for 30 seconds or so and don't have to get to the centre point.
