A bit gutted - 96 mins is really dire. Was running with people who took 88-89 for first half but on descent to the Howe I got to a point where I was struggling to descend at all - my quads and the postural muscles which give ankle stability just gave up. About 40 people overtook me descending from Carnethy Hill. Sigh.
On the positive side - I got around without trashing my achilles tendons and couldn't have a few months ago - given that my training goal is to sort the tendonitis out this is actually positive. Also, this has made it clear what I need to work on most (leg strength, leg strength and leg strength, esp. quads, ankles, oh and lose a ton of weight). Interestingly left achilles survived uphills fine but started hurting on downhills (when my ankles were flexing far too much). Good fun though. I'll do this again. Faster.
