Big Weekend Chasing Sprint Prologue on Whinny Hill. 22/56. Won by HHaines +42%. Cold before the start and tired - my faster recovery time from last autumn has gone again! Still, ran off with some energy - got confused on second control, I was a hill earlier than I thought and did benefit from getting caught 1 min by SimonG. The second half was a hill run. My hill running is not very good. Fun though.

....and chase, urban. 14/39, +21%-ish but limited field. Sore right calf before starting and wasn't entirely sure I should, but what the heck. It sorted itself out pretty quickly.

Noone behind for 90s and prospects for catching anyone appeared poor. Wasn't expecting to see Rosco, who set off 20s in front of me, again but maybe he was taking it easy and I managed to get close for first 5 controls, then he started running properly and disappeared - at least that's what it felt like but maybe I just started faster than I could sustain. Anyway, managed to avoid getting disqualified despite peculiar gaffling of last few controls disqualifying many. Enjoyable but quite trashed now.

11/33 overall but there were many disq. or who didn't do both parts for whatever reason.

Edinburgh City Race, SOUL 1. 23/90. Won by Murraystraining. +31.6%. 1173 RPs (my current highest)

Happy with result - no hip pain during race and running better than I thought I would. Errors generally small: 30" at 1 (wrong alley, despite care); 20" at 6 (wrong side of wall); 40" at 12 (kept running up hill looking at next leg); 10" at 14 (didn't spot you could keep going down steps). Running quite well later on, gaining 3 places from run through spectator control to end, +24% for 19-end.

I spend too much time finding my place again on the map, particularly on these big maps. Need to fold and keep my finger on where I am better.

Lunchtime run. Feeling better. Sitting leg cross over stretch really getting the exact place on my hip that hurts... so doing lots of it is helping me loosen up, but actually doing it aggravates it. Hmmm.

Looking forward to weekend but not confident of being able to run that fast. Oh well.
