ESOC Sprint O @ Riccarton Campus. Won by Spongey +19.7%. 8/16 Men's Open, 10/86 overall, 1st M40. Quite good - quite a few 10s errors early on. Looks like I got a bit faster later on.

Chase. +16.2% to Seamus O'B. 3=/10 men's open, 4=/70 overall for this part, 4/10 men's open, 5/69 overall but 3 disq. due to mispunch or OOB route (I only spotted hedge near 18 was OOB just as I was getting to the control so can see it was an easy mistake to make).
Started 1s ahead of MarkW and 8s ahead of Jason. Mark ran past on way to 1 and then made an error at 2, so at back of that group. Got back ahead of Jason and Mark on gaffled section. Chased Ruaridh after the gaffled bit - caught up when he took a bit of a longer way out of 18 but didn't manage to close down at the end. It was all going to come down to a route through the undergrowth but he got a better one. Would have been 1st on M40 if I'd actually entered M40.
Great courses by Craig - tricky throughout. I am 5% down at these sprint races on where I think I would be in a straight running race (or urban race for that matter) - need to figure out why. Technical or strength, or both?

HBT Burns Supper... reps up Observatory Road (30", 60", 90", 120", 90", 60", 30", 60", 90", 120", 90", 60", 30"). Took most of them easy as worried about hip but put more effort into a couple of the longer ones. Even taking that into account, it's clear I drop back a lot on hills relative to those I run with on the flat. Then to AndrewM's house via off licence for haggis, beer and general merriment.

Not entirely sure running home was a good idea but took it slow to avoid a stitch.
Trying out ibuprofen gel on hip rather than ibuprofen tablets - seeing as I've been having them on and off since early December which maybe isn't the greatest plan.
